Fourth of July festivities were as follows!
I worked a bit on Friday, and then headed down to IOP.
newki and I went down to the Windjammer, and caught a bit of the tail end (no pun intended) of the bikini bash. I took some exceedingly tasteful photography.
As an amusing side note, when you post pictures like that to your Flickr account, this is what happens to your Flickr stats:
Pervs.
Anyway, after that happy celebration of what makes America great, we walked back to the beachhouse to watch the fireworks display. Pretty amazing, especially since the house is technically within the exclusion zone where you're not *technically* supposed to be during the show. You get pelted with cardboard shrapnel from the mortar shell casings. Good times!
After that, it was back to the 'Jammer to see Drivin' N' Cryin' play. They were pretty great.
Saturday, I got some clothes shopping done. I also hit a pawn shop with
catjunkie and found a beautiful little
Olympus OM-2SP - a nice little late 70s-early 80s SLR. Beautiful little camera; cloth shutter, manual wind and advance, with a really solid meter that can do full program, aperture priority, and spot; and in nearly boxed condition with a 50mm/1.8 prime, a 24/2.4 wide, and a 70-300/4/5 push-pull tele. So I bought that. I think it'll be nice for shooting out in the world, as it's far less imposing in both appearance and noise than my F100. I then hit Two Colins' place for his annual Fourth barbeque and fireworks fest, having first gone downtown to transport the keg. We did some damage to some watermelons. Those mortar shells that look so pretty up in the sky look even better at ground level, jammed into unsuspecting fruit. Of course, there was video; shot by Newki and I and edited by him -
