Author's Notes: Graham and Nicodemus are two new characters. Nicodemus is a 900-year-old vampire, and Graham is an investigator for the Vampire Tracking and Protection Agency (V.T.P.A. for short). Graham meets Nicodemus in the course of searching for a newly-made vampire as well as a vampire-copycat serial killer. Still working on how to properly introduce them to each other...
Graham hated funerals. In the past, whenever a distant cousin or aunt or friend of the family had died, he'd buried himself into his work. But today... this was his father - Graham owed it to the man to show up at his funeral.
A hand settled on his shoulder, the weight reassuring. He hadn't known Nicodemus for very long, but Graham was certainly glad to have the man tag along with him. It was more than he would have done if their positions were reversed - Graham was, admittedly, not very pleased with the circumstances that led up to his asking Nic to come.
"Are you all right?" Nic's smooth voice whispered in his ear, and Graham took a deep breath to steady his nerves.
"I think so... If I start crying, get me out of here."
Nicodemus laughed, but Graham hit him in return. "I'm serious. If I start crying, my mom will cling on me for the next three months. That's what she did when my brother died. God... was that five years ago already?" he shook his head, trying to remember.
"I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one the years pass so quickly for," Nicodemus smiled, and patted Graham on the shoulder when he started to laugh. "Come on. Introduce me to some of your family, why don't you?"
