Lets Talk sesame street shall we. my favorite character is Ernie, as per Bert and Ernie. I suppose thats because he reminds me of myself and a relationship i have with a friend now (ive always liked him though, Ernie that is) He always seems to get the old shit on from Bert, but he takes it cause he knows Bert doesent mean all that stuff he says.
I remember my favorie little "sketch" with ernie was the one where he was singing the song about how he was imagining being all these things and putting on all these hats, and at the end of each verse he would sing "And i tip my hat, imagine that, imagin thaaaaat, imagine that. and began each one with "sometime i imagine that i would like to be...." i really liked it cuase it really showed past all Ernies quirks and gimmiks and really sat him on the pedistal that is our thoughts and showed his soul to us, some real people dont live up to the beauty of that puppet. Other memorable Ernie moments, they were giving Berts nephew a bath and ernie had turned it into a fun time by throwing in all these toys and what not, and bert was not havin it. he was always so serious about things, he needed to chill out, cause if he didnt then his nephew would turn out the same way, and ernie knew that. so hes going through all these toys hes put in and he gets to an inflatable shark and berts nephew goes ahhh! in a really funny voice, and bert looked a little scared to. Also when they are fishing bert cant catch any fish and he cant understand why, hes doing everythng right it seems (always so technical that bert) then ernie starts going "here fishy fishy fishy fishy" and bert tries to make ernie feel stupid for trying that, but sure enough just by asking the fish start jumping into the boat.
there are a lot of hidden messages in that show that i think adults dont see, deep down i think that show has had a real effect on the way that i grew up. thank you sesame street, thank you.
By the way, i have an unshakable devotion and un-movable dedication to you....
