The problem with peace.
I think it is safe to say that the only way that the human race can be at peace is for us all to stop thinking. Ideas, it would seem, are dangerous. You see, because one group decides that they have the right idea. Then another group decides they have the right idea. These two ideas contradict, however. So, group A and group B start a conflict.
Now, the natural inclination is for a born and bread "acceptance is the answer" citizen of any of today's "industrialized countries" to say, "group A and group B need to learn to compromize. Why can't they learn to accept that other people see things differently?" The thing is, when someone has made that statement they are now group C. Infact, by sitting here typing this I am group D. We are all in conflict. We all see the situation differently and truthfully none of us are going to change are point of view spontaneously to agree with someone else. Right or wrong is irrelevant.
Here is what I propose: conflict is good. Infact it is not only good but essential. To go a step further, it is not just essential to us, the human race, but to the fabric of reality itself.
Look at the theory of the Big Bang. Supposedly, all matter and energy were at rest in a condensed form and then they exploded outward into the ever changing dynamic conflicting forces that makeup our reality. Some people think that one day all matter and energy will be drawn back together and everything will start again. This means that everything is infinite. There is beggining and no end. Which is impossible for the human mind to completely comprehend.
On another hand we have religion. World religions are filled with Deus Ex Machina, God machines, things that humanity simply cannot know because we are not gods. My point? Even our ideals are a source of conflict.
Imagine two androgenus humanoids. They look exactly the same. They are floating in a sea of contrast. They are aware but at peace. They cannot speak, but this is irrelevant because they would have no desire to communicate. They have no emotions. They have no bodily functions. They have no needs or desires. This is the true form of a peaceful society. Tell me you desire an existance like that and I will show you a liar. The resulting conflict will help justify our continued existence.
We exist because of the conflict we create. When we stop creating conflict we die, or maybe our death causes us to stop creating conflict. Our bodies are in constant conflict with the physical world. For example, your bones are conflicting the Earth's gravitic pull. They are constantly holding the rest of your body up against gravity. The rest of your body is designed to pull energy from other parts of nature and use it to move around despite the fact that most of the other matter in the universe is following set patterns of movement.
Our constant struggles with each other are part of the process of survival. They are part of what we need as a race to continue existing. It may not seem like the most efficient way to ensure survival, but it has gotten us this far and I am willing to bet it is not going to change.
