The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.... in "Sin City" (which is also a Gram Parson's song that I've learned on the mandolin....


The Good

• I enjoyed that while Dean wasn't duped by the bartender, the played out trick of the devil's trap didn't work this time around.
• The fantastic faces Sam's gotten to pull in the last two eps. His exit in the bar owner's office was a sweet reminder of last week's perfect ep. 
• Fuzzy piggy slippers.
• Dean talking shit and brave, but his eyes being honest and scared when she asked him if he was afraid of going to hell. Oh Dean.
• Casey trying to save Dean, her being willing to back Sammy, Dean's face when Sam killed Casey (the human as well as the demon).
• Azazel. Awesome!

The Bad

• Meet a hunter, kill the hunter. Meet a hunter, kill the hunter. Meet a hunter, kill the hunter. Blah blah blah.
• As much as I love me a good Veep shoot-my-friend-in-the-face-with-buckshot Dick joke, and even though I laughed, it felt completely awkward coming out of Dean. Far too political. 
• The demon-wink. Not so much bad, but tiring. And the close-up telegraphs the moment so much that it's no longer a surprise. Even with Ruby, it was the close-up, not the demon-wink that told me she was naughty.
• Not seeing, or ever likely getting to see how Ruby fixed the gun
• The damn wide-screen filming that looks unfinished on my non-wide-screen TV

The Ugly

• The lighting. I never thought I'd say it, but I really hope they get some rain in Vancouver and put those boys back in the shadows. It just aint Supernatural when it's sunny.

The Call

• It was so heavy-handed that maybe it's a red-herring, but... Ruby is so Lucifer.
  1) Casey talking about how no one's seen Lucifer, but all the demons believe in his return
  2) how Sam was supposed to be the leader and carry out Azazel's plans
  3) Ruby fixing the gun and being sure Sam got it
  4) Ruby telling Sam she'd be his "little fallen angel"
  
  If that's not how it falls down I'll consider myself a sucker who enjoyed the ride. And if that is how it plays out, then boo on them for being so obvious, so soon.

*Edited to add that if Ruby is Lucifer, Sam is so gonna have evil!sex with The Devil!
