I seem to be a changin' mood tonight. I went on a quote quoting frenzy (see the side bar), renamed my LJ and made a heap of Roswell icons (inspired by
sugarpromises). Odd night, I guess. Possibly fueled by my new passion for home-brewed, chocolate-hazelnut, iced coffees and a continued belief that I am on West Coast time.
So here's a question for all you musically inclined people out there:
I'm auditioning for the chorus in a Christmas musical spectacular and am way rusty on audition pieces. The audition notice calls for songs that show one can sing in a "clear and pure tone" and in "early music style." Now, already I'm up against a block because my tone's not very light. I'm a mezzo sop. with a decent vibrato. This audition is mostly for kicks to get me back in the swing of auditioning.
The question -- Anyone out there have a good suggestion for a Christmas carol (a required song choice for the audition) that might work? Something vaguely Renaissance?
And lastly, even though I've been a more casual Gilmore Girls watcher, and kinda tuned out this season once Amy Sherman-Palladino wasn't writing it anymore...the finale?
Tears.
'Night all.
