In addition to work eating my head, the desire to set Dean's pretty face to music has been equally consumptive.
Disclaimer: Before "Born Under a Bad Sign" I didn't ship Dean and Jo. I didn't like that she was being so clearly thrust into the mix and I thought they had non-flammable chemistry. And so, like all things in my life, the second Kripke et

Like you, I'm so behind on my own Jo fic...um...I am a dork. I'm actually already late for the spn_outsider pov challenge. That was a Cassie fic. I just went on this crazy urge to write fic for the women in Dean's life. So I chose the two that I hated and went for it. Now I sort of like both of them...yeah that happens.:P
I have like a zillon MVID ideas for SPN, but never the time to work on them. Same for GH, which is a fandom I abandoned long ago. Although I aim to watch the Ronik/Scrubs stuff coming up cause that looks HOT...LOL at the crazy Scrubs board. Why are they so crazy??? One thing I love about SPN...no couple shipping...except for Wincest, which is just...you know, not canonical. LOL. Lovely icon btw. You know I was against it, but then I read some of it cause I read everything once, and you know about 99% of it is whatever, but there is actually some amazing Wincest fics out there that I can tolerate for being believable and awesomely written. I just can't/wont' write it myself...I don't *see* it (I love the brothers as brothers, you know).
Anyway, I am procrastinating writing fanfic. How ridiculous is that? I am sort of lost with Scorches..I usually never have problems with endings (my favorite part of a story)...but this one is killing me. I hate to rush endings, so my mind is twisting a million ways to give it a big satisfying bang. ::sigh:: It's just new job, new city, and my mind is too jumbled. Yikes.

I would be interested to know if many Wincest writers have siblings or not.
As to why the Scrubs board is crazy, I can offer no explanation. Or rather I can, but it's a meta that I'm still developing that parallels fandoms and patriotism.
I'll be turning in my roadhouse challenge later this week. I wrote half of it, hated it, started again, was unsure, and have now finally found the courage to move forward. Still not sure if I like it or not, but certain that -- like most of my fic these days -- my simple little idea has expanded beyond the confines I originally setup for it. Damn me and my epic tendencies.
In regard to "new city," I PMed you at the Ronik board. Let me know if you're up for drinks or coffee or whatever. I think you said you were at Farragut North. Which cracks me up as that is my metro as well, and I'm fairly sure one day you'll end up sitting beside some chick on the metro and notice that she's reading what looks suspiciously like a print-out of a fic from an LJ account. That'd be me. Wave if you see me.

RE: Roadhouse epic?! Woohoo! I can't wait to read it. I'm sure it will be pure amazing Rillaness. Um, I posted a Jo-poem I was not too happy with, but it is what it is: http://maboheme.livejournal.com/16485.html#cutid1
RE: The Wincest: I would be interested to know if many Wincest writers have siblings or not. I wonder. I read this one post once where a girl said she could never see her own siblings like that but Wincest worked because it is "fiction" and girls are just living out their escapist innocent gay-male-porn fantasies through it. Yeah, okay. I mean IMDB does list under its keywords for SPN: "Sibling Incest Subtext." (Can you believe that?! LOL!). Even Kripke et Co. have commented on the apparent subtext. Anyway, because it's squicky and weird, at the end of the day I think what attracts fangurls to it is basically that "wrongness" itself. I have this whole thinky-meta in my head steeped in an analysis of what straight women find appealing about m/m slash overall, but also delves into why Wincest is especially popular- to sum: Two Hot Boys (the gay) + The Inherent "Angst" Factor of breaking another social boundary (the incest) = Automatic Story that hits high levels of deviant/angsty sexuality "kinks" that elevates the already pre-packaged angst of "gay" slash to bigger heights. Yadda, yadda, yadda. I'm gonna stop thinking now.
RE: Farragut North girls. I'm sure we've brushed shoulders coming and going:P I got to be honest--this anonymous thing is sort of fun. Let's keep playing at it for a while, and if you don't get too tired of me online (and tell me to get out of your LJ), let's definitely meet up. LOL:P
Ok, I was typing this while listening to a conference call at work. I'm so bad. *g*

Oh ya, we're a lively pair.
As for the Wincest, I agree with you on the "wrongness" front. That, and it plays into the escapism of a fandom as well. But that's another meta for another day.
LOL re: anonymity. Sounds like a plan. I'll try to curb my rampant curiosity and not bother poor people on the red line if I think they're reading fic.
Ooh...if no one's told you yet -- go check out the cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin. They should be at peak next week or so and they're just stunning. If you're not allergic to them. If you are, they're just horrid agents of sneeze.
