I actually made it through into the new year without turning into a pumpkin before the stroke of midnight. Score one for me!
And now for a little New Year's quiz I swiped from
carmanah .
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Took a stand and did what I wanted to instead of what other people expected me to do. It was quite liberating.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't really make any, unless you count resolving to make decisions to make myself happy instead of other people. In that case, yes, yes I did.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. My step-sister had her second little boy in August. Baby Miles is one of the sweetest babies I've ever been around.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Unfortunately, yes. My great-uncle Bobby died Christmas Eve morning. He was 70 and had been in and out of hospice for months.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. Our software vendor moved their headquarters to Frisco, Texas so my annual trip to Toronto has been canceled. :P
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A real life would be nice. Working on that one but it might not happen quite the way I want it during 2009.
7. What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
July 4th - the last time I forced myself to be part of a religion that I no longer believed in or wanted to be a part of.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Leaving the church was probably the biggest.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Allowing myself to fall into a depression after leaving the church. I don't regret the decision for a minute but the fallout was a little hard to take.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing outside of the typical cold and allergies. Oh, I forgot the bout of migraines during the first part of the year. Guess that counts.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
It's a toss up between my digital camera and my collection of shoes. :)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Not sure anyone's merited celebration. I suppose maybe Mom's since she didn't freak out on me quite as bad as I'd anticipated when I finally told her I was leaving the church.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My friends. I haven't spoken to my one best friend since the end of June and the other since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. All over my decision to leave the church. It's sad to see such long term friendships (close to or longer than 20yrs) end over something like that.

Personal bills and vet bills. These puppies have been expensive.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
