It's times like these I shake my head at how your brain can WORK like that.

Um...Arithmancy > History of Magic. See? It's a mathematical fact.

You...you can't do that. I can present you with a huge essay on why History of Magic is FAR better than Arithmancy.

We're so great, we don't NEED a huge essay.

That just smacks of a lack of effort.

Or...we're just that amazing.

No, you're just lazy.

No. We? Are fantastic. We work in absolute truths, therefore better.

We actually have to think about and argue out our answers. Unlike you, who can just put down a number and move on.

Reply

Because it doesn't take a lot of time and effort to get to that number.

Reply

corps_et_ame July 9 2007, 21:23:01 UTC
Ah, but getting that number proves nothing. That number doesn't tell you anything about the world, just that you can fiddle with numbers, the odd letter and symbols until it comes out right.

Without math? There would be no architecture, no music, no concept of time...history is just reporting on the things that math creates.

Numbers are irrelevant. History has nothing to do with how it is measured or what is built. It's to do with people, and society and power. Maths effects none of those.

Do you want the essay? Because I'll do it.

But society is all about culture. If it weren't for things like music and architecture, where would society be?

You're serious aren't you?

There's plenty of other aspects to culture than music and architecture, really. And they're not entirely maths based, thank-you-very-much.

Deadly.

Name something to do with society. I can tie it to maths, I assure you.

Go for it then. I'll be amused.
