Anyone around here know how to repair a stuffed animal?

We’re not talking anything as simple as rips and tears and stuffing hanging out. This is more…how to refluff something. The victims are a lion with a formerly luxuriant, flowing white mane, and a pink-and-yellow cat whose once fluffy coat, like the lion’s mane, is now all smooshed down and sort of matted.

I don’t want to go into all the details because it’s been a long, hard day and I’ll just get pissed off all over again. Long story short, most of my stuffed animal collection has been in a footlocker out in a dilapidated storage shed that provided virtually no protection from the elements. Naturally everything got wet. My brother suggested putting them in the clothes dryer to see if that would help. Skeptical but willing to see if it would work, I chucked them in and started them tumbling. To my surprise it worked-except for the unforeseen consequences to these two fluffy ones.

So, any ideas on how to restore their fluffiness?
