FIC: Some Heavenly Star-Spangled Night, WORLD'S FINEST, 3/?, PG-13

And continuing the Friday two-fer...

Here's the next installment of this one. I was hoping it would be a little longer but Lex Luthor mucked things up a bit. (Figures, huh? *g*) Anyway, everything after this is laid out nicely and should flow pretty swiftly onto the conclusion.

Eeeek! Loving this- I can so see Batman giving Lex the second look... and wondering! oooh, shivers! Clark's remorse in the beginning is so sweet, and sad. Realizing that Bruce would have to want him... sigh. *pets him* Clark the selfless hero is always wonderful. I can't wait until he gets to Metropolis...

Thank you! Writing the with Lex was driving me nuts, but it's good to know it came across right.

A little more angsty stuff in Metropolis, but then things will get a lot better, and wishes just might come true. :)

So glad you enjoyed this!

Lex Luthor is such a great villain. He's not crazy like the joker but he's crazy like a crazy person who's crazy obsessed. LOL You did a great job with him. I also loved Superman's struggle to overcome his extremity. You handled that with beautiful descriptiveness, and how it was all framed around his desire to be with Bruce, be there for him. Extremely well done. Bravo. Looking forward to more soon. :)

Getting into a villain's head is always a huge challenge for me, especially when it's some so iconic as Lex Luthor. (I dread the day the muse decides it's time to write the Joker. :shudder:) It is fun to go that little bit over the top, though. Small wonder actors love playing the bad guys parts.

I'm starting to feel guilty about beating up on Superman so much, even though it is all to a really good cause. Poor guy. I'm finding it's easy to show him being heroic in the usual way -- saving the world and all that. Bringing it down to something more intimate, overcoming his weakness because Bruce needs him, is proving far more satisfying. Glad to know it's working,

Glad you enjoyed this, thanks so much!

Loved this chapter! I enjoyed the scene of Clark struggling in the beginning, his thoughts about what he can get from Bruce and happy to get it, and his fear for Bruce even while he's suffering.

I did like Batman getting in a good punch on Lex! I can't wait for the next chapter! :)

It was very satisfying to have Batman clock him a good one. LOL

Poor Clark. My inside information tells me his fondest wish may just come true, however. :)

Glad you enjoyed this, thank you!

Excellent chapter. Loved the dragons and Lex, evil and villainous, just the way I like him. Having him pervert the gift from the alien to become a weapon to kill Superman was ebil excellance! Clark's struggle to overcome physical pain was so well written that I wanted to run over to give him a hand. Your having Clark take strength from hearing Bruce's heartbeat was sweet. Clark's acceptance of the relationship he has with Bruce now is so in character. Accepting and being glad, cherishing what he has and not expecting anything more. So noble, so silly in his own way.
I'm glad you had Batman give Lex a good punch in the face! Very satisfying! Too bad Lex seems to have something up his evil sleeves.
Thank you for sharing this new chapter. Looking forward to the rest of this!

Isn't that just like Lex, discovering some wonderful, benvolent alien technology, and his first thought is how to use it to kill Superman. That man has some serious issues.

Lex does have one more evil ace up his sleeve, of course, but my inside information tells me he will be thwarted once more, and those silly boys will finally figure a few things out. :)

So glad you enjoyed this, thank you!

I really loved Lex's POV here! He's so very silky and unpleasant, and I really loved the way he's not QUITE certain Batman won't drop him--it makes sense to me that Luthor would see a human like Batman as perhaps lacking the weird moral hangups that he sees as hampering the other superhumans. Great stuff!

It was scary getting into Lex's head. Villains always give me fits, and he's so iconic that there's even more of a sense of having to get him right. Great to know it came off okay here.

Glad you enjoyed this, thank you so much!
