A Tuesday roundup
Sad news: Kevin McCarthy, star of one of my all-time favorite sci-fi movies, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, has passed away. If you've only ever seen the assorted remakes, check out the original sometime. IMO it is way scarier.

In happier news, I've almost finished my very first NCIS fic! Weirdly enough, it's Gibbs/Ducky (although totally G-rated). Weird, because I really would have expected my first dabbling in this pool to be Gibbs/DiNozzo, but there you go.
No idea if it's any good, and it's quite possible I wrote it primarily to imagine David McCallum reading Lost Horizon, but hey, it's a start.
I'd love to dabble a bit more in the NCIS pool, but ideas have mostly eluded me so far.

Spotted at Fantasy Book Critic: The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack. Not sure about the overall book, but Sir Richard Burton tangled up with Spring Heeled Jack is enough to put this on my wishful thinking list. Burton has long been a favorite historical figure, and Spring Heeled Jack one of the freakier outbreaks of mass hysteria, so bringing them together can only be intriguing.
Quick movie rec, now I'm thinking of it: Mountains of the Moon. It's about Burton's and John Speke's attempts to find the source of the Nile, and is just a great movie.
