Of baseball, birthdays, an SH movie update, and possible strange alien invaders...

First, yay for the Rox, with Ubaldo Jiminez on the mound, getting their first no hitter last night against the Atlanta Braves. (And how cool and classy that a lot of Braves fans were standing up and cheering too.)

It was looking like just another game for awhile there, and shaping up for another win for Ubaldo, but then it gets to the 6th, 7th innings, 8th innings, and Ubaldo's still on the mound, still throwing great stuff, and all of a sudden an early season, just another game, has all the excitement of a playoff or Series game! Love when that happens. :)

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes; I'll be catching up to those in a minute here.

Thanks also to aswanargent for the Sherlock birthday card. And a thanks-in-advance to whoever got me two more of the Clare Ferguson/Russ Van Alstyne books from my Wish List. *hugs*

I discovered that due to maverick4oz's generous gift granting me a little spending spree there, and trying to one of those to the shopping cart. *g* Worked out okay, though, and I just picked out two other books (Devil You Know by Mike Carey & If Books Could Kill by Kate Carlisle) ... and, of course, the new Pendergast book to complete the spree.

So I think I'm good for reading material for awhile.

Watched the SH movie again yesterday, with the brother this time, and it quite definitely improved on a second viewing. I even decided to be generous about that one thing that had me all huffy. The brother enjoyed it, too, and said, quote, "It has lots of pizazz."

And that alien invasion... OK, I know some of you are very into gardening and such, so any ideas on what the heck this is:

I saw this one, and at first thought it was a caterpillar the cats had killed.

Then I saw these, and a whole bunch more scattered around and thought, whoa, that's a lot of caterpillars, that's a lot of dead caterpillars:

So I took a closer look--

--and realized, nope, not caterpillars at all. Some kind of seed. But from what? They don't look like any seeds I've ever seen around here.
