At night the earth cools and things are bearable in the jungle, the cabin retains the heat of the day and it's finally pleasant to walk around in some manner of dress.  Not that Riley encourages such behavior but it's nice to lay back on the hammock in a shirt and shorts and listen to the ambient noises of the jungle all around them.  At first she ( Read more... )

The night's aren't so bad. Remy likes them mainly because she gets time with Riley. Life here is different - both more and less demanding than it had been at PPTH. There she'd disappear for days at a time. Here she might get called away in the middle of the night, but she'd get dinner with Riley pretty much every night.

The image of Riley in shorts and a tight t-shirt is always one that makes Remy walk home as quickly as possible. Not that home is that far from the makeshift medical center they've got set up for her.

Tonight's no different. She swings the door open to find Riley chugging her beer - Remy smirks at the memory of a drinking contest held a few months back, when Riley earned the respect of most of the men in the surrounding hundred miles - and puts her bag down by the door.

"Did you save any for me, Tex?" She's not really talking about the beer...

She has to admit that life here is a lot nicer in some aspects then back in Jersey. Back in the states they had two very together but separated lives and there were days that would go by where they never saw each other. Work was stressful for both of them and that would directly reflect their lives at home. While there isn't all the comforts of home here, there is a peace that was hard to obtain in the States. Here she could be apart of Remy's work if necessary, and here Remy could be apart of her hobbies.

They depended on one another in more ways then who would order take out that evening. The door opens and Riley smiles, it's easy to know who's coming to the door, easy to hear footsteps and tell before the door is even open. Remy has a very distinct step, with a purpose and with strength, it is only after more beers then just one does Riley think there might not be a time she hears those steps.

"Mmmmm," she hums low before her eyes turn toward the woman who just walked through the door. "Maybe, for a certain price."

"A price?" Remy's smiling as she shrugs off her lab coat. It's something she wears, despite the heat, because it's what the people expect a doctor to wear. It makes them feel better.

She saunters over to Riley and slides a hand around her waist. Her other hand plucks the beer from Riley's hand. She takes a sip, then leans in for a kiss. "I think I can figure something out."

Another low hum in her throat as the doctor saunters to her, that walk, that swaying of the hips and purpose. It makes her smile, so does her reach for the beer. But the thing that makes her smile the most is the way she leans in to kiss her. Wrapping her arm around Remy's slender waist she leans up to return the kiss and pull her down on to the hammock with her.

There is always room for more practice on the hammock.
