Attention white folks!
POC do still have to negotiate the world quite a bit differently than you do.
This includes the job market; figuring out which jobs to apply for, whether we should stay in a job, and figuring out how to best gain greater qualifications for a given job track are still all impacted by the fact that we aren't white.
And when we're living in depressed areas, and have little access to good, consistent public transportation we can actually afford, and we're stuck in jobs whose hours fluctuate drastically per week (because we can't get what few higher-paying jobs are available, and we're competing with hundreds of people for basic, low-paying and/or part-time jobs), it's much harder to ensure our bills are paid on time, especially when a great deal of our debt/living expenses are medical bills that we can't actually negotiate down, find cheaper drugs or treatment options for, get samples of, or go without. Many POC have tried to get access to some of the free samples you keep saying we should try, and are refused them, because our doctors, even ones we've had for years and know the results of the drug tests our jobs require of us, still think we're all addicts and drug dealers.
