About everything I had to say about this episode, I already said on the episode thread, or someone else said it better. Basically, this says it all: "I think we like each other." It's mutual! It's practically out in the open, what with all the meaningful glances flying around. The tension is unbearable, and yet ... exquisite. And I love how all the plots tie together so beautifully. A lesser show might have one art show plot, and a separate romantic plot. But this show manages to shed light on Leslie's personal life and her state of mind through her reactions to everything else that's going on. We saw this in Fancy Party, and again here with her frustration with the rules and her embrace of the sexy, confident version of herself in the painting.
Other things I loved:
*One of the best moments was a mere two seconds in, Ben bumping his head when Leslie sneaks up on him. And also, kind of awesome that in spite of the awkward!, Leslie is seeking him out and inviting him to stuff.
*Ben's date outfit=ugly plaid shirt with a tie! I know he didn't care, but I still found it amusing. I wonder what he would wear on a date with Leslie.
*Leslie's beautiful blouses in this episode. She looked amazing, especially with the warrior princess hair braid.
*Ben likes brunettes, at least historically! I don't know why I like this detail so much (and no, it's not because I'm a brunette). It's something about Leslie being a departure for him. She's special.
*Leslie's little flirty remark in the end that Ben deserves "a real goddess"
*The aforementioned lightbulb comment. Leslie wants to make out with Ben!
*Ben looking at the ceiling to keep himself from looking at Leslie's chest, as well as Leslie's expressions during that little exchange (and of course the subsequent peeks at the painting, which have been mentioned by everyone everywhere already)
*Ben smiling at the suggestion he and Leslie might be married in three weeks. Of course he knows that's not going to happen, but it seems the idea of being married to Leslie appeals to him.
*The return of Orin as performance art.
*"You were frying marbles?"
Nitpicks, because I can't resist:
*Does Ben not own any stuff? I always assumed he had at least a perfunctory apartment back in Indianapolis, containing, presumably, a bed and a few dishes. I guess I was wrong! Poor Ben.
*When April asked Ben about his date: "Oooo, what's his name?" it bugged. We know her to be a very pro-gay person, and I didn't think she would be the kind to tease someone about possibly being gay. Probably I'm reading too much into that.
*Why wasn't Ben at the art show? I guess he was too busy moving all of his ... nah, he didn't seem to have any stuff.
But all in all, one of my favorite episodes so far!
