"Do you want have sex? I think we should have sex. CASUAL sex."

So, after seeing the movie last month (which was excellent), I decided to read the original graphic novels from which Scott Pilgrim was spawned.

On the whole, I really liked them. They've got the same quirky sense of humor as the film, and I was impressed by how much dialogue from the movie was lifted nearly or completely verbatim from the comics.

There's some more character depth and subtle things going on in the graphic novels, but hey, that's what happens when you have six volumes and not just two hours to tell a story.

Actually, what surprised me most was the ending: considering how solid the beginning and middle were, I actually thought the end fell a bit short of the series' own bar. The movie handled the ending a bit more elegantly and eloquently. Which isn't to say that the ending to the comics is bad; it's just not as good as the rest of the series, which is kind of a shame.

Overall, pretty decent all the way through. Recommended if you're a nerd who appreciates video game humor and has weird aesthetic tastes.
