Secrets of Starbucks

I know that this'll probably be of some interest to atariwolf and maybe some others of you out there. I've learned about one of the most amazing things ever.

So, a couple months back, one of my coworkers told me about the Undertow, which is this drink that Starbucks makes that isn't actually on the menu. It's actually become one of my favorite things to get, now, because it's cheap and amazing. What it is is a hot shot of espresso that's been floated over a layer of cold half-and-half and vanilla syrup, which is drunk as a shot. Seriously, it's pretty awesome.

But that's not the amazing thing yet! Oh, no.

Yesterday, speaking with my friendly neighborhood baristas (baristae?), I was asking about what other super-secret off-menu drinks they have, and that's when I learned about the Cap'n Crunch.

It's a strawberries and cream Frappuccino, mixed with toffee nut syrup. And it tastes exactly like a bowl of Crunch Berries.

No, seriously, I'm not making this up.

I thought that the Starbucks people might have been making it up, though, so just to make sure, this morning, at the Starbucks in Palo Alto, I asked the girl if they knew how to make one, and she confirmed that, yes, it was a real thing. So, this afternoon, when on my usual 3pm coffee break with coworkers, I knew what I had to order.

...

Seriously, this thing takes exactly like a bowl of Crunch Berries. Except in liquid form. And I honestly can't quite emphasize enough just how goddamn delightful that is.
