Oh, What a Geeky Weekend For Me XD

Since I can't remember the last time I've actually made an actual LJ update in which I detail my day... I have given you all great joy in moderately detailing my weekend :D

F R I D A Y:

Amazingly fun.

Around 7 Yidan, Cory, and I went over to Daniel because the Japanese club was showing a jrock concert (on DVD) using a nice, big projector screen. The concert itself -- Miyuvi's final indie concert -- was just yummy to watch <3 It was funny, and Miyavi was hot, and it had good music... and then near the "end" he started singing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands/spank your butt/do weird arm gestures" which was amusing to watch. And the fact that he was really hot had to-die-for hair and an insanely charismatic stage presence helped too. Then we just watched a Mystery Science Theatre episode on dating, a Dane Cook clips, some music videos, and ate cookies before finally heading over to McCabe and then getting everyone into our dorm. Lindsay, Jamie, Blake, Victor of the Blue Hair, Cory, and me (and even Sean stopped in for a bit) hung out and tried to play/figure out various japanese video games courtesy of Lindsay.

Then Cory, Blake, and I went outside because Cory said there was supposed to be a meteor shower around one. But since we weren't sure if there really was one, and outside our dorm is no place to go stargazing, we just sat around talking about... various random stuff :3 Then Jeff showed up and we drove with him to park his car in P-1 and I called an escort back, but some kind people offered us a ride in their truck so we cancelled the call. Seeing as how we decided to make it look like nobody was in the truck and be cool we all lay down and yelled out random stuff and got lots of funny stares as we suddenly emerged from the back and hopped out (along with a drunk guy questioning our sobriety XD).

And then further amusing hanging out ensued as Blake and I walked into Cheynna's dorm (only after Cheynna and her friends accidentally walked into our dorm) as we talked about music and drinking and whatever else came to mind... and then curfew time hit and the guys had to leave and Yidan and I stayed up for a bit before finally calling it a night around... late.

S A T U R D A Y:

Slept in until 1, went to lunch/breakfast around 2:30-ish with Cory and Cheryl. Ate. Cory, Yidan, and I went over to Clemson house to meet up with Jamie, and then the four of us made a trip to Anderson. We hit GameStop and Wal-mart first. I resisted the urge to buy. Then we went to the Anderson Mall: I will NEVER complain about North Charleston's Northwoods mall being small again. But the arcade was fun (they had skee-ball!). Jamie was kick-ass at DDR, and fighting games, and shooting games, and that Police911 shooting-simluation... and I found that I am only mediocre at skee-ball and rather suck at shooting virtual... anything. But my humiliation eased as we went over to Hot Topic. Jamie bought an Army of Darkness "Yo, She-Bitch Let's Go" shirt, and I wandered off to the calenders :3 I spent a good while staring at the Red Sox and Chippendale calenders (mainly the Chippendale one) before finally deciding to save my money and put them back ;_;

Then we went to Planet Comics :D I got yummy strawberry pocky (the kind that actually has strawberry chunks in it) and Runaways v2#9 and perused various other comics such as Necromancer and a couple other Spiderman titles. Then we managed to leave without me spending lots of money...

...and then we got to Best Buy. And I bought Franz Fredinand's You Could Have It So Much Better CD. It's good. I personally like their first one better, but that might be because the song "Michael" is just so damn cool. But I think that I like the lyrics for the second CD better :D

After buying that, and Jamie and Yidan buying their stuff, we finally got back to Clemson. We hung out at Jamie's dorm in Clemson House for a bit before going to Subway to get a nice, late dinner. Cory left us at this time and Yidan, Jamie, and I went back to his dorm to watch Emperor's New Groove. I think I like that movie a bit more every time I see it :D When I first saw it in theatres I thought it was stupid and hated it -- but that was probably due to my anger at having no love story. But now it's one of my favorite disney movies (although Lion King and Beauty & the Beast are still the tops). After that Yidan and I called an escort cause there was no way in hell we were gonna walk all they way over to the shoeboxes. The police guys were nice and got very into our convo when I mentioned something about being born in Africa... which led to the irony of being named America :D

After we got back, Yidan and I watched the first episode of Paradise Kiss. They could've made Arashi so much hotter. But George is still georgeous and I love the anime style, and the voices, and overall the anime (of course, it did start from an awesome manga). Then I sat and listened to all of my new CD.

Then, around 3 or 4-ish, I went to bed. And slept happily <3

S U N D A Y:

Okay, for those of you who don't know: I'm in the Residence Hall Council for the shoeboxes (the name for the groups of dorms that I live in). We had a cookout right next to the volleyball and basketball courts between Young (my dorm) and Cope.

The cookout started at 3PM, but I got there at 2:30 to help set up. At first we were afraid nobody was going to show, but a simple piece of paper with "FREE FOOD RIGHT NOW @ VOLLEYBALL COURT" posted in strategically placed areas (i.e. taped to the outside and inside of the dorms' entrances) does wonders. It wasn't long before there were a lot of people in the area: eating food, playing basketball, playing volleyball, kicking around a soccer ball, or playing catch with a football. There were even a couple people who came out to just sit on the grass and do homework. At the food table we were also collecting donations for Hurricane Katrina, and ended up with a lot! I mean, there were a couple people who had actually dropped in $5 bills :D

Overall, the event was a success. We threw it because Sundays and non-gameday Saturdays are so quiet and boring here. Just about nobody's outside. But we got a helluva lot of people to show, and the crowd didn't disappear until we finally ran out of food around 6. Even the veggie burgers were all gone o.O

rha, look i have friends :3, rhc, friday freever, weekend, actual update
