So, I finally got 'round to seeing Goblet of Fire last night with elira, lianda, ostraya, and smirnov_.

It was much better than I had expected, having not liked the book very much (although I love me some Triwizard Champions - if only they'd had, you know, lines or something). I actually almost want to read the book again on the strength of the movie alone, except I know

I had severe issues with how much filler they had to cut out of the plot to make it short enough... some of my favourite bits of the book were just GONE. Like SPEW! SPEW was hilarious! And Hermoninny of course. I agree they definately should have focussed more on the Four Champions instead of the Fantastic Three. And they cut out all the stuff about Rita Skeeter and stuff, those things were actually really amusing. Anyway, I just had issues with what they cut out.

Also, agreed that Emma Watson needs to stop over acting. And slumping down onto stairs like a drama queen.

I died in the theatre when Harry was crying over Cedric. Like REALLY died. Cedric wasn't as ugly as they made him look in the trailers.

NEVILLE! OH MY GOD NEVILLE!!! But I'm still angry that they included more random shit about Neville and dancing than they did about oh, uhm, say SIRIUS?! The Sirius!plot was just completely excised from the movie! Augh!

All in all, the movie went by way too quickly. Like.. "what?! Third challenge ALREADY?! They just finished the second one two minutes ago!" "WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S OVER?!?!?!?!"

On a side note, I loved the cool-ass trunk that Real!Moody was shoved into. It reminded me of a sarcophagus.

PS Why was Padma Patil in the Gryffindor common room with Parvati? I thought they weren't supposed to go into other people's common rooms... Why were Padma and Parvati giggle-obsessed with Harry? WHERE IS LAVENDER!?

...okay I need to stop picking apart these movies

BTW There's a new "Scene it!" Harry Potter trivia game. I say we get it and play it. Because it would be hilarious how much we all would uber win at that game.
