It Withers and Withers

Just like any respectable fan I can't hear, my neck hurts, and I'm exhausted.

And what do I have to show for it? A specialized US tour guitar pick from none other than lead guitarist, Kaoru. I'd been hoping for a Die pick, which is why I stood on his side of the stage, but for some reason, Kaoru decided to huck a pick right at John's forehead, so he gave it to me.

The concert itself was amazing and yet disappointing all at the same time. I was disappointed that the concert was very little different from the concert I have on DVD. It was pretty much Withering to Death and Vulgar put on shuffle, but you still get a lot of great songs in there. They weren't as energetic as I was hoping for, but that's to be expected when they're finishing off a tour and already pushing into their thirties. Die threw out very few picks, which disappointed me, but Kaoru brought out the energy I was hoping for. Toshiya was amazing, though he sadly didn't take off his shirt, and Shinya was entertaining as always as he thrashes those drums with his tiny frame. Kyo was outright psychotic, not only scratching up his chest, but tearing chunks out of his mouth so he could spit up blood. As usual, his singing was terrible, but that was never why I liked the band anyways. He had the emotion and pure whiteness between fear and anger that I enjoy so much about him, and he had his usual little striptease, body thrash, and other random antics that only Kyo can pull off on stage.

The highlights for me were definately The Final, since I adore that song, Jesus Christs R n' R, because it's probably my favorite song on the new album, and their closer, Child Prey, which was an amazing choice. I think Child Prey made most everyone's night since everyone knows that song pretty well.

Despite the fact that we were pretty far back in line, we didn't have to deal with much trouble finding good spots. We weren't right in the pitt, but we were on the next level up, right in the front, so I had a perfect view of everything. It made it difficult for me to decide where I wanted to focus my attention. I got some really good eye contact with Die that made me want to melt, but that's to be expected since I'm obsessed with him and all.

Overall it was just fucking amazing, but it I'd had things my way they would have played some older songs and mixed it up for the American crowd. It would have been mind blowing to see them play Ain't Afraid to Die. Although maybe it's better this way, cuz if they'd have done that song I might have passed out in bliss.
