ANDREW MCMAHON PREPARING FOR BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT
I'm sure that a lot of you know that Andrew McMahon of Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin was diagnosed with leukemia a few months ago, and this was just posted on his blog yesterday. It's a pretty serious procedure so ... yeah. :/
Here we go. A brand new day brings a brand new month and for so many reasons I'm taking a deep breath. As I've said here many times, so much has changed for me since the spring, and now with summer in full bloom I am preparing myself for an August to remember. Come Wednesday I will begin preparation for a bone marrow transplant. It's a complicated process, one I'm barely beginning to understand, but from where I sit I believe strongly that this will be my cure. I have spent the past 4 weeks getting my head and body ready for the months to come, and I feel like I'm finally here. I will spend tomorrow in the studio working on some bonus material to be released in conjunction with the record. After that it will be go time, more or less. And in the midst of this craziness comes a date that would otherwise be the most important of my soon to be 23 years; The release of an album that took me 2 years to write and every square inch of sweat and blood I had in me to make. Until the day I found out I was sick this record was the closest thing to my heart and I quickly realized why. Because when I hear this album it is a testament to the people and things around me that make my life so sweet. It's amazing to watch how this world is constantly moving in circles. Giving and taking and giving back again. That’s what everything in transit is about. The constant motion of this world. In a lot of ways these past few months have reminded me of that motion. All I can say is I am so lucky to be here, feeling as good as I do and talking to you all about these important milestones that are so rapidly approaching. It's going to be a good month. I can feel it.
