Replaced (Chapter 1)

Summary: When Yamada transfers to a new school, in Shizuoka, he meets a nice boy named Chinen Yukito. The little boy seemed to get a lot of attention from other students yet he seemed so lonely. These two become very close but there are things of which Yamada is not aware. Something happened in this school, students act weird and he wants to know why.
‘‘Are you ready to go, Chinen-sama?’’ the driver asked the little boy who looked outside the window at the crowd of people waiting for him impatiently.
‘‘So annoying…’’ he tried to control his emotions. He was quiet before answering the question that the personal driver of Chinen family asked.
‘‘Yes.’’ He answered after couple of minutes when he was ready to face the people outside.
The car was just standing there, nobody came out. Yamada started wondering if he already missed out something. Maybe the person inside of it came out before they arrived at their spot but then he saw a man in a black suit with white gloves and a cap on top of his head coming out of the car. The person walked to open a door and as it was open, a little boy stepped out. Students started screaming and greeting him happily.
‘‘Ohayou, Yu-chan!’’
‘‘Yukito-kun, ohayou!’’
‘‘Chinen-san, ohayoou~’’
They yelled different nicknames. As the boy was getting closer where Yamada stands the brown haired boy was able to observe him better. He was gorgeous. He was even shorter than he was. Before seeing this boy, he thought people like him exist only in photo montaged magazines. Yamada looked at the boy’s expression, he seemed very sad, but then he pulled a smile on his face. A kind of smile made his heart throb. However, one thing he didn’t realize, that the smile was fake.
‘‘W-who is he?’’ he asked as he turned to look at Yabu but the taller boy was no longer standing next to him. He looked around and all he saw was only females going crazy over the little guy.

‘‘Today we have a new student in out class. Please, be nice to him. Come in!’’ Yamada slid the door open after teacher’s announcement and walked to the center of the class.
‘‘Yamada Ryosuke desu, I’m really happy that I get to study here. Yoroshiku ongeaishimasu.’’ Yamada scanned the classroom. All he saw was smiling faces and one pair of sad eyes staring out the window. He realized that those eyes belonged to the boy that walked out of the limo and who had the wonderful angelic smile.
‘‘There is an empty seat behind Nakajima-san… Someone please, wake him up’’ the teacher pointed his hand towards the sleeping boy.
‘‘YUTO!!’’ A guy next to him yelled right into his ear.
‘‘I didn’t eat the cake!’’ the sleeping boy screamed as he jumped up. Everyone started laughing and he looked around the class confused.
‘‘Huh? Are?’’
‘‘Nakajima-san, pay attention to the class.’’
‘‘Hai, sumimasen…’’ he scratched his head and sat back down on his seat. Yamada walked behind Yuto named guy and seated himself down. Then his head turned immediately to the left, the side where Chinen was sitting. The little boy didn’t realize the new student staring at him at all. In fact, he didn’t even once look at him during this whole time.

It was time for a break. Chinen stood up and walked out of the class with the whole class following him, both boys and girls. The little boy only sighed.
‘‘He sure is popular.’’ Yamada thought. Somehow all of the sudden he remembered Yabu’s words. He still doesn’t know what he meant by them but had so much craving to know more.

School halls seemed noisy at this moment. The cause might be the appearance of the boy, Yamada thought. He walked upstairs to school’s rooftop. When he walked in, he realized that he’s not the only one there. There already was a boy standing, supporting his body on a railing.
Chinen sighed. He was getting tired of students in school following him and pretending he’s someone important. He looked forward and saw a peaceful city. Slight breeze caressed his cheeks, making him feel a little bit better.
‘‘Hi.’’ He heard, and with corners of his eyes, he saw person approached him. He leaned on the railing as well. Even thought he didn’t see him completely yet, he knew it must be the new student in his class.
‘‘At least he won’t look at me the same way. Not like they do now…’’
‘‘Hi.’’ he responded.
‘‘This is a good place, right?’’ Yamada tried to make up some conversation with him.
‘‘Un. It’s relaxing up here.’’ The boy answered but didn’t show any interest in talking to him.
‘‘Getting tired of the whole school running after you?’’
‘‘Un.’’ He turned around and slid down his butt on the ground. Yamada soon accompanied him.
Yamada opened his mouth several times as he was about to speak, trying to keep up the conversation, but every time ended up not knowing what to say exactly. He looked at the boy beside him who had the same sad look in his eyes as he had this morning. He wished he could comfort him somehow but he was only a stranger to him.
‘‘Anoo’’ Yamada started but quickly stopped his words to think for a while. He wondered if he dared to ask what happened to the boy. Was he sad because of the popularity or was it something else. In the end, instead of asking anything he dug out something from his trouser pocket.
‘‘Here’’ Chinen turned his gaze at the hand that was stretching a wrapped candy to him. Then he looked up into Yamada’s brown eyes.
‘‘You seem very down today.’’ He explained his actions. The smaller boy took the candy from him and thanked him. He even smiled a bit. The brown haired boy stood up, smiled at Chinen and walked to the door. He hoped the noise has settled down now, even a bit. Chinen’s eyes only watched the guy leaving.
‘‘Today, huh...’’
