Things are going to pieces... okay.. maybe not just yet, but they're enroute. Shunsui getting injured off the bat is really foretelling impending doom. As for Renji, maybe he thinks that thing can only steal one Bankai (which is what I've been thinking about... they steal one Bankai then they use it against the Shinigami themselves) XD But yes, I'm very worried as well.

I'm quite surprised they're trying to get in contact with Ichigo. Wonder what exactly Akon's thinking about or whether he knows Ichigo's bankai can't be stolen. Also, I'm wondering whether Unohana's thoughts on Toushirou's bankai not being stolen have been translated correctly since Mangastream has one translation and Mangapanda has another. If Toushirou's one really hasn't been stolen, it'd be interesting to know why...

Oh boy, this is bad.

Shunsui has me worried. He's not the guy you'd expect to get injured right at the start. And his speech isn't exactly motivational either.

Renji unleashing his bankai...yeah, not the brightest idea. But Kubo irks me more here, he's basically letting Renji contradict himself. It was him after all who didn't want to use bankai at the beginning. On the other hand, when Byakuya's bankai was stolen, I can imagine that about every alarm in Renji's head went off and the newfound level-headedness flew out of the window. When nii-sama starts to yell and Renji throwing himself to the wolves even though he knows better...despair much? (I'm really worried about Renji, he's screwed without Zabimaru unless he improved dramatically in kido and the like)

It's good seeing Akon again, though.

OTOH, didn't Byakuya instruct Renji to defeat the enemy with his bankai in case Byakuya's own got sealed? It seems this could be a case of bad order being followed too swiftly. In any case, I'm sitting on pins and needles, waiting to see what happens next.

I know this is old, but you shouldn't have been irked by Renji's "stupidity" here. Renji was previously instructed by Byakuya to defeat the enemy with Bankai if Byakuya's own were to get stolen. And as another poster said, Kubo had Renji hesitant in going Bankai, but now he does this as an act of desperation, which I think is kind of warranted. I'm sensitive about Renji here, if you can't tell. No one seems to cut the man some slack. T_T
