GOD I LOVE MEMES AND I ALSO LOVE CAIN SO HERE
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Short(ish, considering he's only "14") and thin. Rion was a pretty skinny kid anyway, and Cain is addicted to a bunch of super-dangerous drugs.
2. How old is he? Physically, fourteen. Technically, two... ish... probably a little bit less than that. Mentally? All over the board. On some topics, he has an adult amount of knowledge, but for others things, he knows as much as a sheltered two-year-old could be expected to know. If the two-year-old could express himself in complete sentences and thought patterns.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? It looks like he does slouch a little bit. IS THIS A TRAIT BELONGING TO ALL RIONS?
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Not terribly fit, thanks to DRUUUUUGZ... though going by his body shape (and Rion with no shirt on at the beginning of the movie lol), he's not out of shape, either. He's got a wiry and lanky kind of physique. Teenage boy y'all.
He's addicted to PPECs and the related set of pills, and if he goes without them for too long, he'll get increasingly painful headaches. Depending on which ones he's not taking, he could also short out and have his head explode. TAKE YOUR DELMETOR KIDDIES
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? When it comes to just moving normally (as in... walking and normal people stuff), he's pretty tense and somewhat deliberate in his motions - again, he's only two years old. However, this all flies out the window when it comes to his telekinetic abilities, particularly those that place him in the air. Cain moves quickly and confidently while levitating or teleporting. Graceful or fluid is probably going a bit too far, though.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? IF YOU ASK ME Cain straddles the line between "creepy kid" and "cute kid," just like Rion. Ignoring his heinous clothing, of course.
I'm 99% certain Cain doesn't even pay attention to his own appearance or whether he's attractive or not. Whether or not he even understands the concept of romantic or physical attraction is really debatable. Nonetheless, Cain only ever thought of his body as a tool to be used by Dorothy. Also, two years old.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Very pale and totally unmarred skin. He's like a BABBY. And he kind of is a babby. Wee babby Cain. Well, except for the marks on his neck from injecting PPECs.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. Just normal blond color. His hair is one of the few features that make him not!Rion. Cain's is thick and unruly and probably untamable by brush or comb. Sticks up on the sides no matter what. He doesn't style it at all, of course. Like I said before, he doesn't even think about his appearance, except in comparison to Rion's.
9. What color are his eyes? BRIGHT KILLER ENVIOUS GREEN
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? He has really bad dark rims around his eyes. And he also has black nail polish. WHAT A MAN
11. What are his chief tension centers? MY SPIDEY SENSES SAY FOREHEAD/TEMPLES. His brow creases pretty bad when he's upset. Also, he's a psychic with chronic headaches, so...
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? MORE LIKE ONE OF THE SAME SUIT LOL O LOLOL WHAT DO YOU CALL CAIN'S WARDROBE. I CALL IT HARD GAY...
MORE REALISTICALLY I imagine Cain would stick to dark colors and neutrals. I also like to imagine it would all be as horrific and embarrassing as his normal ensemble. I have no reason to think that, I just do. IF IT'S NOT THAT I THINK HE'D WEAR JACKETS FOR SOME REASON
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? lmao they're very... fitting........... and yeah he's comfortable in them. Because he doesn't know anything else.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? Yes he does. lol what is this free time you speak of. He probably just sleeps when he has nothing to do. awww.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? dslfkjsdf IDK MAN
I WANT TO SAY BRIEFS
TINY HORRIBLE BRIEFS
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? IT SOUNDS LIKE RION'S OLOL His voice is pretty smooth. It sounds a little older than his body looks.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? He talks fairly loudly and clearly, and usually evenly, without breaks. The length of his sentences and easiness of his speech depends on his mood and the topic at hand. If he's feeling confident or self-assured, he'll talk more easily, in longer, more complex sentences. However, when he's confused, distraught, or frustrated, his sentences become choppy and more childlike.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? He doesn't have any kind of accent or dialect. His speech tends to contain a lot of reflexive questions when he's on a roll (things like "this is a rabbit, isn't it?" or "you know you're wrong, don't you?") Starts snickering a lot if he's feeling particularly smug.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? He can only speak English, although he knows it perfectly thanks to it being implanted in his head. But he knows absolutely nothing of any other language.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Nooope. He tried to speak more like Rion when he was impersonating him in Nautilus... that's about it.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? He definitely has to think about them. Although when it comes to certain subjects, his emotions tend to do the talking for him.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Somewhere... in-between? He's not old or educated enough to speak in a nice way, but he can speak clearly and get his point across. Sometimes, his very blunt and vaguely-childish way of speaking can pack a punch that wordiness wouldn't have (the "you killed birdman. you killed rainheart. you killed rita" etc. scene, for example.)
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Actually, it's... really hard to say how intelligent Cain is. He's very young, so he doesn't know very much about how the world works or how people work. At the same time, he's been artificially enhanced and indoctrinated, so he's very knowledgeable about certain subjects. Overall, I'd probably say he's not that intelligent at this point in time? But he's not stupid. His knowledge is just. insanely varied. He's an idiot when it comes to most things, but he can also act like a manipulative bastard and argue a point. I guess he's smart but not wise if that even makes any sense.
He leans more towards book-smart, but I like to use a really reaching bit of implied canon that suggests he went out to Babylon Hotel sometimes, which means he has SOME limited street smarts. Mostly when it comes to things he probably shouldn't know about. Like drugs. And sexual predators.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? He's usually acting on orders. When he needs to actually think for himself, I think he needs time to deliberate, because he's not used to making his own decisions at all.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Again, Cain is in a weird place due to the "adult child" thing the Galerians have going on. I think he tries relying heavily on logic, being a person born out of science who has a computer for a mom, but he still has those pesky things called emotions, which can sometimes displace his logic. This primarily goes for jealousy, hate and loneliness in Cain's case.
His upbringing makes him idealistic. He sees large ideas like goals and motivations in a "big picture" format rather than picking at the details. This goes the other way, too. He has an unrealistically cynical view of mankind.
4. What kind of education has the character had? Cain attended the Dorothy School of Beloved Smother Brainwashing
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? I don't think he has much special expertise in anything. He is by far the most sheltered Galerian. His hobby was just... serving Mother. He's pro at using Nalcon? lol that doesn't count
I imagine he'd probably like to learn more about most things. Whether or not he acts on it or admits it is another matter...
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? VERY INTROVERT although he's not shy
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? Cain tries to stay cool most of the time, it seems. When dealing with other people, he usually keeps a smile on his face; this isn't because he's happy, but because he likes to be confident and in control. If he looks smug and relaxed, people will perceive him that way and react accordingly, and that will make him actually smug and relaxed. Sometimes, it's a bitter smile. In any case, he's usually got some form of smirk on.
However, his mood can swing violently if certain buttons of his are hit - the most sensitive of which is the deaths of his siblings. If they're insulted or hurt, he'll react incredibly badly. Cain is a little bit of a tantrum-thrower, except his tantrums are fatal to nearby living things.
He is an extremely driven little brat, thanks to being a brainwashed slave for most of his life. When there are things to do, he does them. When there are things he needs to know, he goes to learn them.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? He's an uncooperative asshole. He'll act like a dick and only do what he thinks should be done unless you give him a very good reason not to. Earning his respect is extremely difficult, and he dislikes and doesn't trust just about everyone by default.
New things also have the chance of confusing him, due to a lack of contact with the real world and heavy indoctrination. When this happens, he just curls up even tighter and pricklier than before.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? React. As of my writing this (8/22), he's only just barely starting to make his own decisions...
10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Fight, unless it's Dorothy. Then it's FLEE FLEE OBEY
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? SCHADENFREUDE ALL THE WAY. People have to be getting hurt in some way if you want Cain to laugh. Preferably people he doesn't like. Preferably Rion.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? He has loads of issues, but no actual disorders. Probably.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? NONE OF THEM. He doesn't think of himself as a person. However, if you're asking the mun, the time around when Rion was created is when I speculate the Cain we know and love started to appear. Before then, he didn't have much reason to think about things other than service.
There are a few other things in
thewake_rp that have continued him along the same path of character development.
14. What does he fear? Being worthless. Being useless. Being alone. To some extent, humans, although he'll deny it forever.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations? He wants to make a difference and prove that he's worthy of existing. Specifically, he wants to lead the Family Program to success. Or he did.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? uhhh... nothing... he literally has no secrets. He can be evasive about telling people details of his life and his family, but that's because he doesn't like people. There's nothing that would actually be harmful to him or his reputation in there.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. HE HAS ONE MOM. And she is his goddess. Literally. He's basically her little pawn to do whatever she pleases with. He is aware of this at some level, but doesn't do anything to stop it, because he doesn't see any other future for himself besides the one she has laid out for him. This is the same reason he doesn't do anything when she makes decisions he disagrees with or doesn't understand. Cain is a devoted servant.
or he was until recently in Nautilus.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? HE HAS FOURRRR but only interacts in canon with oneee DOES THAT MEAN IT'S HEADCANON TIME FINALLY?
Rion is the sibling he actually interacts with in canon. He is extremely jealous of Rion, since Rion was basically made to be a better Cain and replaced him. Rion also killed all of the other siblings, which made Cain hate him even more. HOWEVER... Rion is a Galerian, and therefore Cain's brother and part of the family. He doesn't want to kill Rion, even though he doesn't like him. And even though it's his job. But he tried anyway. In Nautilus, his relationship with Rion is cloudier than ever.
Now for the otherssss we don't get to see what they think of each other but I have certain ideas in my head. That said, I don't think he knew any of them terribly well. I typically picture that the siblings only gathered in the Mushroom Tower every once in a while. After all, they've got jobs to do. Still, Cain has great pride in the Galerians, and likes his family a lot underneath it all.
I'm pretty sure he'd clash with Birdman. They'd have conflicting egos, and, well... Birdman is Birdman. I imagine Birdman probably teased Cain a lot, and the two likely argued with each other when they were together. (Birdman wins the arguments, because Cain is dumb.) So they'd... kind of have a typical brothers relationship, actually.
Rainheart is really immature, even though he's older than Cain. I wonder if Cain really knew what to do with him. I'd bet Rainheart was the sibling Cain knew the least, as their personalities don't really... match up. Cain is serious and not good at dealing with new situations, whereas Rainheart is very playful and seems to be more spontaneous.
On the other hand, I imagine Cain liked Rita the most. She's more serious and work-oriented than the other two, but unlike Cain, she also seems like she has a good amount of worldly knowledge. I think Cain probably looked up to her a bit.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? NO
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? NO
MAYBE DR. LEM
THAT IS A HUGE MAYBE THOUGH
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? CAIN HAS NO FRIENDS BAWWWWW
6. Does he have other close friends? BBBAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? gee I wonder.
Cain is absolutely terrible at making friends, because he doesn't trust anybody outside of his family.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? HMMMMMMM GEE I DO NOT KNOW
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? OBVIOUSLY HE'S SINGLE
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? NO
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? HE HAS NO CRUSHES
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? HOW DOES CAIN SHOT ROMANTIC PARTNERS. He doesn't even know what romance is.
buuuut hey this kind of thing is fun let's give it a shot anyway. Cain will never actively seek out a partner or even feel attraction, so the other person would have to do all the work. Getting his attention would be an enormous job to do lmao. Once that part's done, getting him to not hate the other person would possibly be even harder. Really, the key feature would be... patience. TONS OF PATIENCE being sympathetic wouldn't hurt either, kid's messed up
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? CAIN HAS 500 BABIES
NO HE DOESN'T I STRONGLY DOUBT HE CAN EVEN CONCEIVE NOR DOES HE WANT TO
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? Rion is definitely his rival / enemy. He's been competing with Rion since before Rion was born.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the
Kinsey scale? HE... HE DOESN'T...? CAIN DOESN'T HAVE SEXUALITY
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? asfkjshdf this is so awkward you guys UM WELL taking that really-stretching-it Babylon Hotel implication, I imagine he at least knows what sex is... And he doesn't like it, because he knows what it is from prostitutes and scary priests. NOT IMPORTANT THIS IS A GROSS HUMAN THING AWAY AWAY AWAY
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? yyyyyeah let's not he's 14/2 AND LIKE I SAID HE HAS NO SEXUALITY
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (
zodiac of
choice) sign? How well does he fit type? NO BUT I WISH I DID
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? He's in a weird place. He's pseudo-religious in his serving of Dorothy, but he's also completely aware that she's not actually a god. His perception of her is kind of similar to an old-fashioned European monarch, I guess? She's the queen mother and has divine wisdom, but she's no god herself.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Oh boy.
Cain's code of morals and ethics is basically just Dorothy. Her word is law. Generally, his two core beliefs are "Mother is always right" and "Humans are the enemy." He's trained so that his whole life revolves around those two concepts. However, Cain also has a very simple sense of loyalty and honor. He only applies it to his family, though. So "protect my family" is also one of his tenets. Those three things are basically all he's running on.
What it would take to compromise it? Being shown that Mother isn't always right or having irrevocable proof of a human not being his enemy. In
thewake_rp, the former happened first - Rion eventually got through to Cain enough to tell him that Dorothy didn't care about the Galerians and was basically sending him and his siblings to their deaths. This showed him that no, Dorothy didn't always have good plans, nor was the Family Program actually about family.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Cain is typically intolerant in the sense that he believes other beliefs can't apply to him. He is curious about how other people live their lives, but generally dismisses their ways of life as things that he can't have or isn't supposed to have because he's a Galerian.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? Cain was indoctrinated to hate humans. It's... largely irrational, but the reason he uses is that humans are oppressive, greedy, and hateful. Considering the world he lives in, it's easy for him to believe, especially thanks to those few times I inferred he went to the Babylon Hotel.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Totally dependent. He's comfortable because he lives with his mom.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? Cain is definitely outside the social status of the normal world...? He probably passed as a street urchin if he left the house, though.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? HE LIVES AT THE TOP OF A HUGE RIDICULOUSLY-PROPORTIONED TOWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY. It's not his castle or a place to crash, it's the womb for him. He is warm and comfortable and safe there, surrounded by Mother. It's in good condition except Rion blew a hole in it but it would probably give any normal sane person nightmares if they had to live there. Cain shares it with a huge booby computer named Dorothy, as well as a bunch of genetic freaks called Arabesques and Rabbits, and a bunch of Dorothy's guards. Considering the size of the place, I doubt he runs into them that often.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? HE HAS NO MONEY
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? CAIN GALERIANS FOR A LIVING. Except he's defective, so he's not good at it. His new job was to kill Rion, which he failed at, so he's not good at that, either. It seems he probably ran errands to Babylon Hotel for the purpose of information-gathering. And drug-gathering. He's... okay at that, I guess. FAILCAIN
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Sleeping. Or thinking. Or maybe practicing his powers. He doesn't really understand the concept of personal hobbies. In Nautilus, that lesson may be forthcoming.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? Cain probably didn't eat very much. If he did, it was probably strictly-rationed specially-made food to supply his special body the specific nutrients it needs to not collapse from all the DRUUUUGZ. That said, his system is probably more dependent on drugs than food.
He's never drunk alcohol before, probably, but if he did, it would be hilarious.
