ABILITY REGAIN DATA

Unlike my other characters, Cain has a set of powers to regain in Nautilus. Here's a weekly-updated chart of what he can and cannot do.

Cain's Abilities

Cain is a Galerian - the titular species of the game, a race of artificial humans created by the supercomputer Dorothy. The only thing that separates them from their human cousins is their set of powers. Galerians, by intaking a certain chemical called melatropin, command non-combative telekinetic and psychic abilities, such as telekinesis and teleportation. Galerians are also able to consume drugs called PPECs, which grant the user the ability to psychically manipulate electricity, heat, and air particles. Both melatropin and the PPECs are fatal to humans; however, the artificially-enhanced bodies of the Galerians were created to both withstand and take advantage of these dangerous drugs.

As one of the most powerful Galerians, Cain has enormous psychic powers, largely based around electricity and creating mirages. Black lightning seems to be his main theme. He can summon the illusion of storms and darkness in the minds of his enemies, as well as being able to call actual thunderbolts down on his enemies using nothing but his mind and certain power-enhancing drugs. Additionally, he has pyrokinetic abilities, able to both fire blue-tinted balls of flame and simply call up columns of fire where he chooses. The intense electric field Cain is able to summon with his mind is enough to rip apart everything around him.

Additionally, Cain can levitate effortlessly from the floor and move fairly quickly when doing so, and likely has other basic psychic abilities innate to the Galerians, such as telekinesis - we simply don't see him outside of a battleground setting.

The only other notable ability Galerians have is an almost complete resistance to radioactivity.

General Galerian Ability Outline

--> Some abilities can be used intuitively by the Galerians. These are abilities that make use of melatropin, a chemical that is produced naturally in the Galerian's body. While the other Galerians are implied to need to take additional drugs to supplement their melatropin levels, Pegasus-type Galerians like Rion and Cain do not. Non-melatropin abilities that require the dangerous PPECs are marked. Continuous use of those abilities requires 'refueling' - injecting the chemicals into the neck via a Beeject ( a syringe/gun combination, basically. )

LEVITATION: Exactly what it sounds like - the ability to lift one's own body off the ground with the mind. Cain uses this ability extensively.
TELEKINESIS: Object manipulation. Cain is not shown using this, but it can be assumed, since most of the other Galerians are shown with it, and because he can levitate ( use telekinesis on himself. )
TELEPORTATION: Again, exactly what it sounds like. Transporting one's body to another location instantaneously. Short-distance use only. Cain uses this one extensively, too.
ILLUSION: The Galerian creates false scenery by messing with the foe's mind - this can affect all the senses. Cain mainly uses this ability in conjunction with the other ones, but is actually quite skilled at it and can perform long-distance illusions.
NALCON ( PPEC ): This drug allows the user to manipulate electricity. The user can get creative with this one. Cain uses this PPEC extensively.
RED ( PPEC ): This drug allows the user to start fires - basically, pyrokinesis. Another one that can be used in lots of different ways. Cain uses this PPEC, though not as much as Nalcon.
D-FELON ( PPEC ): This drug allows the user to lift others off the ground in a strong psychic field that basically puts enormous pressure on the victim, choking them. Cain uses this PPEC in addition to his other ones to immobilize his target.

--> The issue with having all these awesome powers it that if Cain doesn't take a pill called Delmetor regularly throughout the day, he'll short circuit.

SHORT-CIRCUITING: This is what happens to people who excessively use PPECs. Basically, the user loses control of all their psychic powers, and they get sent out in all directions as a huge electric field. Any simple organic beings within this field ( about a 10-foot radius ) will have their brains explode from the mental strain; any mechanical beings will have their circuitry fry violently. And, if the user doesn't take a Delmetor, their head will burst, too. This state causes severe strain on the body.

A Galerian cannot be killed by being near another short-circuiting Galerian. Only a short within their own brain is dangerous.

A PPEC-user will short out more often and more quickly if they continuously use their abilities or if they are physically active. Even walking increases the likelihood of a short.

Going without PPECs for even a day or two will cause Cain to suffer extreme withdrawal symptoms, as he's been intaking them since before he was "born." Therefore, even if he wanted to avoid the threat of short-circuiting, not only would he lose his powers, but he'd have to go through hell anyway. Life is pretty much constant pain for Galerians, assuaged only by continuous consumption of the drugs causing that pain in the first place.

Week of March 15->21: Basic abilities begin to return. ( i.e minor telekinesis and levitation - things that don't require specific PPECs. ) Additionally, so will his addiction. Better find dat Babylon Hotel, boi.
Week of March 21->28: Continuation of above. The PPECs that Cain finds don't do anything.
Week of March 28->April 4: Continuation of above. Telekinetic manipulation of objects up to the size of about a file cabinet is pretty much as easy as it used to be. PPECs are still useless, and his other innate abilities are still very weak.
Week of April 4->April 11: Illusion abilities are starting to regain their original potency. The same for levitation, but much more slowly. Telekinesis remains his most-recovered ability, being almost completely regained. Nalcon has very small effects; Red and D-Felon still do nothing.
Week of April 11->April 18: Illusion abilities are at a middle level; levitation is at a low level, but at least he can do it. Telekinesis works fine. Nalcon has very small effects; Red and D-Felon do nothing. Killed by V in the middle of the week, so things slowed down.
Week of April 18->April 25: Was dead until Wednsday. Additionally, Cain's willpower is very weak after learning Dorothy has been killed. Continuation of above, but very slowly.
Week of April 25->May 2: Continuation of above.
Week of May 2->May 9: Continuation of above.
Week of May 9->May 16: Good events this week help boost his willpower. His levitation is middling now. Continuation of the other things.
Week of May 16->May 23: Nalcon gets a boost thanks to him struggling with it in a real situation this week. Otherwise, continues as normal.
Week of May 23->May 30: Continuation as normal. Hey, Red kinda works now! Very kinda.
Week of May 30->June 6: Continuation of above.
Week of June 6->June 13: Continuation of above. Teleportation coming in.
Week of June 13->June 20: Nalcon's back in business!
Week of June 20->June 27: Slight increase in Red. Cain's Illusion powers are coming back. Since he tends to spend most of his time alone, thinking and taking drugs, he has a lot of time to keep improving.
June 27->July 4: Illusion powers are fully back.
July 4->July 11: Continuation as normal.
July 11->July 18: Increase in Red. Continuation as normal.
July 18->July 25: Continuation as normal.

August 1->August 8: Wow this week sucked. Mental hell for Cain - no progress.
August 8->August 15: Still low on willpower this week. No real progress.
August 15->August 22: Managing to get back on track. Actually, better than before, at least in terms of personal willpower. D-FELON FINALLY
August 22->August 29: Increase in teleportation.
August 29->September 5: Same as above.
September 5->September 12: Cain has finally acknowledged his own free will. Red is at full power!
