Party planning

Hnng. So it's my birthday tomorrow, and I'm planning a party for my (absurdly large) family in town. There's a beautiful oriental restaurant that I want to go to, called Hakkasan, just off Tottenham Court Road. I really do want to go there, but... they are not making it easy. I called up to book a table for ten people, and am told that I need to hand over my card details, and pick a set menu of between £55 to £108 (or something like that), which everyone at the table can choose from. I'm not sure who's paying for this-and my father like the old man he is has left his mobile phone at home, leaving me unable to get hold of him and being required to hand over his card details (for various reasons, my card is a no-go) or lose my table with a half-hour time limit.

I got a phone call this morning from a relative who wanted me to move to the weekend, because she is busy on my birthday and my Auntie has the flu. So after I book the table, I need to phone both of them up and tell them that I'm not moving the date, which will require diplomacy. Then I need to call the restaurant back and tell them that I want to bring a cake with me, and will they please serve it to us, which I have never done before and seems to my capitalist mind a little audacious. I can't go out and buy the ingredients for the cake until I know I can eat the cake tomorrow, and it's already ten past three. If needed I could take the bus to a superstore (or walk?) but that is even more money.

This is so stressful I sort of want to leave it and book at Pizza Express. -_-;

Edit: Jesus Christ! The set menus are fucking... £50 per head, minimum! The most expensive is £108 per head! I can't afford that! D8 What in hell happened to economy of scale...? If there's more people you should charge LESS. A la carte would not cost anyone £50 per head.

Moar edit: Okay, so I have at last finalized everything. We are eating at the Haozhan in Chinatown, I am baking a three-tiered red velvet cake and it seems like there will be no mobile children (possibility of one few-weeks-old baby). The Haozhan seems decent, although their website is literally just their name and contact details, probably one of the least informative websites I have ever seen. I am so glad that this seems to have resolved itself. -_-;

Additionally my other three quarters are coming back to the land of the living today, and I cannot express how glad I will be to see them again. ♡

Now, off to shop for cake ingredients 8) !
