Bought the car, and I love it. it's beautiful. It's going out to get detailed right now, but our insurance agent stopped by today and gave us the whole run down-- since I haven't had my license 3 years, my policy is more than three times what my father is paying-- $3110, for the whole year. That's about $250 a month. And $622 downpayment, right now.
But I am now insured! And covered well, too-- I'm getting a good deal for what I'm paying. In case anything happens, it's going to be all right. (There are some situations where, if I totaled the car because a deer hits it, I could get 95% of the cost of the car right back. To give you an example.) Mark, our agent, is going to go get the plates himself tomorrow, saving me the hassle of standing around the RMV, killing myself with boredom. He'll drop the plates off tomorrow, and Thursday, my other off day, I'll take a train back intown to Roxbury Crossing with the plates in a backpack, show up at the dealer with my registration, then drive home.
Oh the car! Well, for those of you who don't know... it's an 1998 Volvo V70 T-5-- a turbocharged station wagon. It's a smoky silver, and it's got leather seats, alloy wheels, an AM/FM radio, cassette deck and CD player, motorized front seat controls, fold down rear seats... So yes, I'll be a soccer mom. But I'll be comfy.
But right now, I'm packing for a picnic. Ta!
