So yesterday, right as work ended, I got onto my online bank so I could log in and check the balance ... and it was zero in checking, and less than $400 in savings. Now there should have been ~$400 in checking & ~$1700 in savings, so I freaked out. Imagine my (lack of) surprise in discovering that some German ... thing had screwed me over.
Went in this a.m. and verified that it was credit/debit card fraud (not sure how they got my number there!) Card was canceled & destroyed, incident form created, and the charges contested with Visa. Unfortunately, that leaves me out a shitload of money that won't be refunded until (hopefully) next week, and there are outstanding charges still pending. Presumably any overdraft fees from the bank are going to be covered since I started this ball rolling. Pissy part is: since this was an overseas action, there frankly isn't a lot I can do apart from what I have done.
So yeah, I freaking hate humans right now.
