Earth Day - April 22, 2005
Special Events and Celebrations
Celebrate Earth Day with festivals, activities, and special projects at New York City's parks and gardens. Now in its 35th year, the day is celebrated by millions worldwide. This year's theme is "Protect our Children and Our Future" and several organizations are hosting events. The following is a small sampling of events and we will add to this page as we get more events.
Parks & Gardens
Brooklyn's Prospect Park is celebrating with tree plantings, workshops, and walking tours April 22-May 1. In the Bronx, Wave Hill's Alpine Earth Weekend is April 23-24, and Central Park hosts the Earth Day Fair on April 23. Buy Earth-friendly products, taste food samples, and learn about how you can protect the planet during EarthFair at Grand Central Terminal April 22-23.

Participate in a unique shoreline restoration of the salt marsh. Volunteers will be brought in by canoe and boat to help clear and remove debris at this site.
