I have to memorize a 60-90 second speech for my Communications class. At the moment I'm thinking poetry, specifically something from Wilderness by Jim Morrison, or something from An American Prayer, or something.

But what's your favorite poem, preferrably something short-ish? Or, any other ideas? I want my speech to be different, and kind of stand out and be memorable.

Happy St. Patrick's day from the Irish alcoholic in me. To which the bitter-about-having-to-work slacker in me says, fuck you.

Also, a few days ago I wrote a poem- feedback of any kind is appreciated.

And with that, she was asleep
Stilled by his silence and his sound
So for a moment, she found peace
Between a dream and solid ground
But nothing is static, to spite each endeavor
Everyone must come crashing down
Daydreamed perfection won't feed her forever
Therein lies the solace she hasn't quite found
Her smile seems unbroken, the words still bear rhyme
Her past is uncertain, her future is bound
Frozen in space and suspended in time
She may sink, she may fly, but she's going to drown

poetry (mine)
