Christine tapped her stylus against the table as she finished up the final chapter that would be covered on her upcoming exam. She wasn't too worried, even if it was her first exam as a Starfleet cadet. She had aced biology in high school, and everything they'd been learning so far was pretty much a review of the same. The only thing about which she worried was this instructor's exam style. Would it focus more on the lectures, or the readings? Would there be an essay question, or extra credit?
She looked up as someone nearby spoke loudly and was shushed. The Academy's library was a great place to study away from her yapping roommate who, for some reason, didn't feel the need to study for their exam. She was nice to let loose and party with, but Christine was much more into studying than partying at the moment. She wasn't about to get kicked out of Starfleet her first semester in.
At the end of the chapter were several books and scholarly journals listed as additional reading. The journals she downloaded to her PADD without much fuss, but the books were hard copies, so she checked the library's catalog, located them, and scribbled the level, wing, and shelf number of each onto the back of her hand. Gathering up her things and putting them in her bag, she set off to check each out.
...And found at each place she went, that the book wasn't there. She didn't understand. The catalog had said they were available, and they weren't mishelved somewhere nearby. Had they been checked in and just not reshelved yet? She turned into a wing of the library that housed the final book she needed. After following the shelf numbers, she turned into the right one and found her way blocked by a tall, dark haired man with several books under his arm, who was pulling out another book from the shelf. Recognizing the ones in his arm and the latest one he was taking as the ones she needed, she moved forward.
"Hey, you! Book thief! You gonna take all the books I need?"
