Is it Penny's job to page Arizona/Callie after Sofia is in the ER? Isn't Sofia's babysitter there as well? I would think it's the babysitter's job to page her parents. So I'm not sure that's going to be the trigger for Arizona seeking parental rights. I'm with you, I don't think it's about any legal issues regarding Sofia.
But then why would Sofia be in that episode too? And they changed the actress playing Sofia, so maybe Sofia now speaks.
Maybe it's something else to do with Sofia? She gets bullied at school, or maybe Sofia's acting out and getting into fights in school (why she got hurt in Ep 16), and Arizona/Callie have different ideas of how to deal with that? Maybe Arizona pulls Sofia out of her school without telling Callie. Or Arizona teaches Sofia to hit first, and hit hard, haha. Far-fetched idea, I know, lol.
I think it could be Arizona having to go away for work for a while. I really don't see the big deal if this is the case, if she's going for like a couple of months, tops. Technology makes it easier to connect with our loved ones, and we're supposed to believe Arizona's a highly sought-after fetal surgeon. She's not abandoning Sofia, she's just going away to help other babies. Could be the show's way to reduce Arizona's screen-time near the end of the season, especially if Jessica's due date is close to the hiatus.
Since this is a spoiler thread, I've seen people say Callie, Penny, Webber and Arizona have a scene in Ep 21. But it doesn't look to me like the four of them are in the same scene. Instead, it looks like Callie/Penny have a scene, and then Webber/Arizona have a scene. It seems to me like they're shooting 2 separate scenes at the same outdoor location for logistic purposes. Are there any reports otherwise?
I believe at this stage and from the photo's Sofia is around 6 and at school so I'd say Sofia speaks lol.
The general consensus is that it's Arizona seeking Legal Rights or adoption and goes about it without telling Callie - I really thought that was all laid to rest...I was sure Shonda tweeted something about it ages ago and in fairness to Callie I don't think she would or ever has denied Arizona as a parent. So if Arizona did do something like that Callie having a bad reaction would IMO make her the bad guy.
I agree about her leaving for a couple months, I don't think it's a big deal, as you've said and I said it too in the C/A thread, with technology there is easy access for communication, there's Skype and all those other things and yes we're supposed to believe now she's this triple board certified amazing surgeon and as I said it would fit in with the season finale and her pregnancy, I believe she's due around the time the finale airs? Or not very much longer after.

I feel like this is bait for all those Calzona fans who think Arizona is still pining after Callie and is secretly lying about being happy with her dating and what-not. End of season, all the couples are in disarray, feels like something Shonda would do. It's starting to annoy me LOL
I just want Arizona to meet someone, I love that she's happy and enjoying doing what she's doing but I want to see her in a serious relationship, at the moment she's pretty isolated I just want some good stuff!
Fact is Callie and Arizona barely have a relationship and if it's Arizona seeking legal rights, the only reason she would do that now is if she felt threatened...If it is that SL we'll probably know after this episode, this should be the start of whatever SL is going to happen
It's hard to predict what will happen but they do seem to be setting up something with Callie/Arizona otherwise Sofia would not be around as much as she will be which is weird in itself
