So I finally finished Mass Effect 3...

And well I'm not really that angry about it...maybe a little disappointed perhaps...but not angry.

First off, the game itself was a lot of fun. The combat was great, as was the character development that happened and there were so many moments where I wanted to cry. It was a roller-coaster of adrenaline, sorrow, happiness, and once Tali rejoined my squad romance. (Okay I admit it I've got a thing for nerdy awkward girls who can handle shotguns.)

Now don't get me wrong, the ending isn't where I imagined that Shepard...at least MY Shepard...would end up. I always pictured that in some future Mass Effect game where we'd play some new recruit we'd find Shepard sitting behind a desk in some office somewhere on the Citadel pushing papers around doing Anderson's old job or perhaps working as the Chief of the Spectre force sending you out on missions to keep the peace in the alliance or clean up leftover Reaper tech.

As I'm sure all of you know by now that's not how the end of the game works and comes down to a three way choice all at the end. Which isn't surprising in some ways considering some of the philosophical ideas that the devs were talking about in interviews. Concepts like how even greatly different choices can lead a person to the same point and the like. Yes I admit it was a bit of a cop-out and it does leave me disappointed in some ways.

But honestly, I'm not angry about it. Sure the end differs from what I thought it should have been but I can't really get mad because the devs, the authors of the work, decided to take it in a direction that was different from what I imagined it would be. It's their work after all, and while I might critique it I won't be among those demanding heads on a platter. That's kinda like being mad at water for being wet.
