Davenport strikes me as pure Ravenclaw, I'd say. I would have said Gryffindor for Elmira initially, but I think you put up a really good point for her and Hufflepuff. I think that overall, she has that gentle Hufflepuff soul, if that make sense, LOL.
I agree that Davenport is more of a Ravenclaw, but maybe the Sorting Hat would debate a bit before placing her. I'd like to think so, anyway. I got to overanalyzing (and I predict this will turn into rambling so bear with me as I go all stream of consciousness
( ... )
I don't think you've overanalyzed at all, really. The points are totally valid, especially when you consider that Suzee and Davenport are very much alike in many respects. I think the big factor, especially considering some of the other Slytherins in the books is the "disregard for the rules" stipulation. Davenport, if no one else, clings to law and order, so I think this is what keeps Suzee from being a good Ravenclaw despite her smarts and Davenport a good Slytherin besides being achievement-oriented.
What was really interesting to me was the idea of "titles" at the Starcademy and how that parallels with purebloods. It's something I'd have not thought of when thinking about house placement. What is a "pureblood" in the SC universe then? Would Harlan qualify because of his military heritage? (I still agree he's way Gryffindor, of course, this point just really piqued my interest.) And if their were such a system, where might Radu fit in it, with no chance of being even half "important?"
