wow.

oh.

wow.

excuse me while I am just a little stunned at how brilliant this is in filling in blanks in so many places at once. and with such pretty words that make me think in pictures.

*smooshes you*

I'm so thrilled you liked it! I have to say it was rather fun to go off the rails (so to speak) and explore some areas of Daniel's life that are only barely touched on in canon.

:D

I have to say I love you a little, because the Daniel-Skaara friendship has been so neglected in show and fic, and then this...wow. Thank you.

Heee!

Daniel and Skaara have such a teeny blink and you'll miss it interaction on the show, and there's even less fic featuring the two of them *sadface* But I've kind of hit a groove with thinking about Abydos and all of the untold stories there, it's sort of consuming my muse at the moment :P

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!

The descriptions of the places are beautifully done. I could practically smell the sofa the Davey and Daniel drank on! The sense of the sites and sounds of Abydos - the heat of the sand, the water on the dry earth, the insects... The people... Perfect. I miss Abydos all the more...

I know how you feel! The Abydos from the movie was such a vibrant and lively culture and it got barely a look in, in the series. :(

I'm more than a little bit in love with the place!

Thank you for the lovely comments as well - I can definitely get carried away when I try to capture the feel of a place that I'm writing about, so it's wonderful to hear that it worked for you!

Whoops! Forgot something. The dialogue seemed so effortless and natural I could almost believe that you used a tape recorder to document Daniel's conversations rather than a pen.

Heee! Well, I have to confess, that of all the characters on the show, Daniel and Sam are the easiest for me to write in terms of trying to capture the cadence and rhythm of their voices - plus, I do enjoy breaking into the occasional bout of geekspeak :D

Rigel.

You. are. awesome.

This was my prompt and I'd been hoping someone would take it, but I never dreamed it was going to be something poetically eloquent and beautiful and Abydosy and thoughtful and achingly, amazingly special.

I want to run off and rec it right now.

I will wait a week first, so I can have the chance to reread it and savor it, like fine wine (or Daniel's moonshine), and thereby rec it with all the loving attention it deserves.

And your tagline? Best one ever.

(I thought the woman in the first memory was Sarah, at first. Then I wasn't sure. Was she?)

Yay!

This prompt just spoke to me somehow. I was hesitant to claim it at first, because I wasn't sure that I would be able to string together the very nebulous ideas that I had into some kind of a coherent story; everything that my muse came up with had this kind of dreamy, not quite memory and not quite reality feel to it - but I think in the end it sort of works with the whole theme of alcohol running through it :P

Abydos has captured my imagination, well and truly now - I've even had to create a series tag for it! and thankfully the Rubaiyat will continue to be a plentiful source for fic titles

The woman in the memory was Sarah, and in the way of muzzy, alcohol tinged memories she's a little unclear in places and vivid in others. :D

And thank you! *smooshes* for the wonderful and amazing compliments!
