Suspended on Google+

This morning, I bopped on over to my Google+ account to add some folks and post something. In trying to do so -- add people or post -- I found I couldn't. I couldn't even get to my Circles page.

And then I tabbed over to my Profile page, and found out why. It was suspended for violating their Community StandardsIf one goes to said page, one ( Read more... )

technically facebook just hasn't caught them yet. They have the same policy.

Actually the G+ profile has space for a nickname (which it says is used as a display name for some services) and an open-ended "other names" field which I presume influences search results depending on the visibility settings you give it. Also going by the TOS quoted above it seems like G+ would have no problem with the main name you give being a nickname if that's what "most" people call you.

(Note: not particularly defending G+'s current names policy here, just trying to clarify.)

Well, they're current implementation seems to be along the lines of "suspend anything that doesn't look like a normal name first, ask questions later", which certainly leaves a lot to be desired.
