i have a dream.
someday, in the near future, there will be a distributed filesystem such that a person can request a file by metadata and, regardless of where the file is hosted, get a url to the file. this might be based on chord, or perhaps something else, but soon such a peer-to-peer, distributed filesystem will be universal and indisposable, much as internet searching and retrieval is now. the system will need to be promoted based upon a need such as scholarly endeavors; it may not be used first for porn, but like its predecessors in information retrieval it will be used most for porn. content could be exposed to this distributed filesystem or not, so copy-protected works and private files could be excluded.
someday, all the porn in the world will be a few keystrokes away. oh, and erm, all the scholarly articles too.
