I'm completely hooked on the new Strictly Come Dancing and the Dutch So You Think You Can Dance series. The latter I got interested in after having watched the UK series (I supported Tommy and Charlie all the way, yay) and for the NL version I'm very partial to Caggie and Enora (too bad they aren't dancing together).
Shameless pimping, even if nobody here watches it because it's not aired in their country. Not even expecting anyone to read this damn thing but I just really want to type out how much I love these shows.
This dance was, just like done in the UK series, a way to bring breast cancer under the attention. Over here, there's this charity called Pink Ribbon and ever since lately it's being advertised everywhere. Anyway, god this is good. So tight with the music and the subtleties and wide range of emotions displayed by the couple. I watched it with a lump in my throat.

This dance didn't even have a storyline that the steps were built around, it was pure dancing and showing off their impressive technique. Caggie dances with such intensity, it's like he commands the floor. <3 him. During the first liveshow he was put through hell as he as a hiphopper had to start off with a Viennese Waltz.

And now about Strictly! Well, I'm gonna start with something negative but I'm trying hard not to sound bitchy. I know that all celebs were asked by the BBC to join the show, so every one of them has the full right to be there but gaaah I hope Ann Widdecombe (or whatever her last name is, sorry, can't be bothered to look it up even if she's a famous politician) won't stay in for too long. She's funny and witty and credit where it's due - her Quickstep in week 3 actually looked like one and was an improvement, but for the rest her dances are a complete travesty. In all honesty, I only endure it because of her dance partner Anton - he makes up for it with his cheery attitude and the way he still tries to make something out of it. I know I can't look into the celeb's heads here but I honestly feel Ann isn't even trying because she knows she can't dance.
And then whilst Peter Shilton gets ripped apart by the judges for being equally as bad, Ann gets praised because the judges know she's going to hurl some reproach at them to shut them up. Or because it's funny. Eh, blah. Two years ago I fully supported John Sargeant for the same reasons ("at least it's entertaining!") but seriously, Ann makes John look stellar. Oh well, call me a hypocrite, I don't care. I changed my mind. Again, the Great British Public is entitled to vote for whomever they want to vote but boy do I disagree fiercely with their choice to keep Ann in and make a complete mockery out of the show. I know the show isn't just about dancing and all but bleh.
Anyway I'm supporting Kara & Artem (Kara is so cute and her compliant personality matches with Artem's vanity - he has his teeth bleached roflmao) and they seem very versatile.
So is Pamela (she's 60 and can shake it in the Salsa and dance a beautiful Waltz or Rumba) and I love how James always supports her rather than make it obvious he's the pro. Even in interviews it seems like he goes with her flow and plays to her strengths.
I really like Scott and Natalie too (even though I can understand my dad's point about it being too technically perfect to keep his attention and people disliking Natalie's competitive nature)
Matt & Aliona too. (Aliona comes off as a bit of a showoff to me and now she's got a partner she can actually do this to. It works!)
I also really like Tina & Jared. They appear to be this cute Middle School-ish couple and considering Jared, the pro, is only one year older than me, I kind of instantly feel drawn haha.
Jimi & Flavia have so much fun together and I love how their energy and enthusiasm oozes and shines through. Plus, Flavia has been one of my favourite female pro dancers since series five.
Since it's going to be too long to keep posting youtube films, I'll add some links instead:
