I spent yesterday morning harvesting grapes at Flag Hill Winery in Lee, NH, and boy, are my arms tired! After drinking many pints of Stella Artois the night before (hey, I was having "A Streetcar Named Desire" moment), I had a difficult time keeping my eyes open and resisting the gentle urge to take a nap amongst the vines. We picked a variety called Foch, and despite what they become when changed into wine (a very hearty Cab), the grapes were really sweet, and I had to be reminded that normal, non-supermarket grapes have seeds. Most of you know that I've always been intrigued with owning my own vineyard (location unknown) and although a vineyard is a working farm and you need patience and a really great wine guy, I decided that I would LOVE to have my own vineyard - making RIESLNG perhaps? - so that I can at least wear my Le Chameau wellies around the vines and look cool.
And now for a kayak update. I feel that I'm slipping back into my Sunday morning routine - sleep in late, nurse the potential hangover and surf the web for amazing clearance - because it is getting fucking cold outside. Falling back into my routine means that warm weather is over, and I'm slowing missing my chance to get my baby girl into the water for one trip up/down the Contoocook River.
