This week Live Journal has
told_tales as one of the featured spotlights. Fairy Tale or Mythic communities have always drawn my interest and so I wandered on over and took a peek. Recently the problem I have come up against with most of the Mythic communities that I belong to is that they start out pretty active and then slowly or quickly they quiet and go inactive. I have tried hard on some of them to try to keep them active but after awhile it begins to feel like my own personal journal for posts on fairy tales and things mythic. However, this community seems different.
As I took a look the first thing I noticed was all the intro posts. Yes I know this is from the lj spotlight, however, it also means that the community now has a large base from which to hopefully get quite a lot of activity. I recently posted a few things which got some good responses and look forward to posting some further things. I added the community to my friends list and have it on watch as well, which means I am being spammed on a daily basis with intro posts, but I figure that after this week those should start to calm down and more of the real posts that get down to the discussion of the mythic arts will begin.
The community discourages sharing personal writings on fairy tales but does link you to quite a few communities that are writers groups centered around mythic writing. I may have to look into a few of those for my fairy tale renditions.
One thing that I find especially interesting about the community is the fact that there seems to be some incredible discussion going on about different fairy tales and myths and such, which is great! It means that maybe I might get the chance to get back into breaking down literature with a group to look at the meaning and the inner workings of it. This is something I have been hungering for since I left college. I really hope this is the case. I would like to go into a discussion about fairy tale variants and the commonly found fairy tales around the world. This looks like it will be a great resource for me and I hope that I will find some great inspiration from it all. I am quite excited about it all and hope that it will really take off and go somewhere. I can't wait to see where this community might take me.
