Mice! Clive! There are mice...everywhere!

... And they're sending letters on the computer--the...what is that? The Network, I mean. I've been watching them do so all day. They can write and speakWe can't seem to go a step in this place without encountering animals that speak... Ferrets, ravens, mad cats, dogs that ( Read more... )

You should get a big dog.

I saw a dog last night who would fit that bill, but he seemed already...attached. Besides, the big ones hardly ever chase mice--ours never did. Terriers sometimes will, but they're shrill little beasts and I won't keep one.

But sometimes rats don't like it.

I'm Sirius Black.

That is true. A big dog would keep them away even if he didn't chase them himself.

Mrs. Clifton Roderick. A pleasure to meet you.

The pleasure's mine.

Do you need someone to get rid of your mice problem, or will your husband handle it?

I think I'm able to deal with the mice, actually. They aren't quite invading the flat yet, and they're...writing things. If they can speak, I shall ask them to leave, as mad as that sounds.

I only want to know where they've all come from in the space of a day.

Well, I'm pretty sure it's a curse, Mrs. Roderick.

Someone gave us a pamphlet explaining all that when we first arrived.

I just didn't think it would quite such a mess as all this.

It is a pretty huge mess, isn't it?

Very much so.

So if this is a curse, then all of these talking mice are actually people...turned into mice?

That's the theory, anyway.

That is perfectly horrid.

For one day? That's not so bad.

No, I absolutely disagree. To be turned into an animal, against one's will, even for a day--it's perfectly horrid.

And what if it was willing?

{Voice} riding_habit June 29 2008, 00:27:17 UTC
...

I suppose that's a different matter entirely. If one wanted to be a mouse, it wouldn't be so bad.
