Washington Weekend
Work messed up the scheduling and told me that I had only put one day down for time off this weekend. They gave me the Saturday, not Friday or Sunday, so I had to move shifts around and loose some hours to make it work, but eventually got it all covered. A little ticked, I highly doubt I was stupid enough to put the middle date down on paper and not the first or last... well, it's water under the bridge now anyway, just upsets me a bit *grumbles*.
Friday I opened, a lot of clearance sales stuff was on for this flyer so it took a long time to find it all and tag it. Of course they had only me there for all of Sports and Seasonal so once the store opened it was hard to finish sales signs. First thing out the door was a BBQ followed by a treadmill, YAY! Luckily though, opening shift means I was out of there by 2:30 and home to quickly pack for the weekend. I hurriedd Jarett around with getting the place cleaned, his parents were the onescomingg over the watch Zion for me, and got our things in a bag.
The drive down was good, Tim Horton'ss screwed up our order- I swear there is something wrong with me and food establishments up here (this following a wonderful sit-down sushi night at Sushi Mori where Jarett and I never were served- lovely ambiance, will never go again). We stopped at Rich's place and spent the night. He was a treat to see him again; I believe he had been waiting for this day for a good month. He is doing well, dealing with stuff and all of that, but all smiles and has rediscovered family.
Saturday we headed out shopping. We had some gift cards for PotteryBarn and Barns & Noble we needed to use up, Rich showed us around a bit as well. Had an awesome lunch by the water: it came in a big bowl: prawns, clams, muscles, snow and dungeness-crab, spicy sausage, and potatoes. The waiter put paper down then dumped the lot of stuff in the middle and we fressed, num num nummie! Spent almost $400 on cutlery, I bought an anatomy and cookie book, and Rich took us on an adventure through an open market. Unfortunately, we had to leave Rich's company to drive further south to our hotel.
The 4x4 swap meet we had gone down for was the next day so we met up with a few of the Coquitlam Crawlers for dinner and then to our hotel for the night. A short sleep, I set the alarm for early morning so we wouldn't miss a good spot in line. I woke to a flashing light on the clock and no alarm noise “Gah! It's half-past, the alarm is just flashing me,” it never beeped, so we were a little late getting up but made it there just as the gates opened. The event was rather boring for me, but Jarett got the parts he wanted. A lot of the stuff there looked like it had been recently lifted from an old field; grass covered and rusted parts to cars strewed the fairgrounds. I froze my ass off along with a friends wife (we made jokes that I think our husbands didn't much approve of ;) ).
In all though it was a good weekend. The drive home was just fine. Stopped by to meet up with North and Path before he had to fly out. I really need to start getting to know these people, I'm so lost when someone mentions a name, but now I have a face to put to Panth, yay!
road trip,
