New Car

I drive a 1997 Ford Escort.  I'd love to try to wax poetic about it, but I think I just said it all there.

Actually, there is more that can be said about this car.  It gets me from point A to point B, it's paid for, and my parents bought it for me to replace my very first car - a 1990 Pontiac that was crushed when a 16 year old who had had her license for less than a week drove out of Wendy's and in to the front of my car.  It doesn't, however, have cruise control, power windows, power locks, a CD player... all of those things I have learned to live without just fine.  I'm getting to a point, though, where I feel I can afford to pay a little extra to have these small luxuries.  Especially the cruise control.  That alone would have paid for itself in speeding tickets by this point.

In addition to its shortcomings, my car is old, and as such, I have sunk around $3000 this year alone in repairs to it.  Now, with all that I've done, it's been running very well and should continue to do so for a while, but I'm not willing to take that risk.  Some of the damage is becoming irreversible anyway, for example, the excessive rusting.

In about a year or so, I hope to have saved up enough money for a decent down-payment on a 2004 Toyota Corolla LE.  Next year, it shouldn't be unreasonable to expect to find one with under 60k miles for $11-$12k, so that's the car I'm hoping for.

Ideally in Indigo Ink Pearl, but that is negotiable.

1.  Pass the 7.
2.  Update my wardrobe.
3.  Purchase 2004 Toyota Corolla LE (or similar).
