So, today was kind of awesome. It all started with Carolyn this morning, now this is a woman who wont talk, wont look at you unless she is throwing her cane at your head. I go to wake her up for breakfast, and she's just all grins and giggles and singing. Carolyn never sings. Morning rounds go off without a hitch, the hair dresser and dentist both come, and all that.
Then- lunch.
Now, I work the first floor, and it's typically the more mobile residents who only need minor assistance and all that. Carolyn is still singing Beulah Land between bites of spaghetti, and then Babbs starts in. She doesn't talk much either, not really beyond mumbling, and before we know it, everyone is singing. The entire lunch room! Well, we're not one to stop this kind of thing, so one of the other nurses starts dancing, so of course I join it... and the next thing follows that, and all but the wheel chair bound individuals are up
dancing and singing Exes in Texas at the top of our lungs!
This goes on for like... twenty minutes! Finally the head nurse comes down and just watches, I think, 'good god, we're screwed'... so I turn around to try and explain, and the woman has grabbed a fake flower and is singing too! We must have hit repeat on that song three times.
So the head nurse talks to the events coordinator, and each floor is going to have a fall formal next month. :) That means we get to have all the people dress up, and even we're going to get dresses!
....though I'll probably want to find a reason to not go.
Low cutting dresses and I, don't mix.
