hi my name is evan and i hear you on that, lazerviking. i understand how you would be upset that LB is playing with DMBQ, another band you love, because it will most likely be more crowded and more rowdy, but in my experience LB fans only really go nuts when LB is playing and they don't push and squash as much during the other acts at a show. i hope that you truly get to see and hear DMBQ without being pushed and squashed.

i think it's an awesome idea for LB to play on the floor because it puts everyone at the same level, rather than having the stage separate band from audience, but there are drawbacks. it makes it impossible for most people to see the band, and it muffles the sound like crazy (especially the drums) for anyone behind the first few rows of people. the most recent time i saw LB was in the columbus theater and i was in the front with seats behind me, protecting me from being squashed and crushed by others. it was great because i don't like to be squashed, but i do like to be up front. i know for some people it's really fun to be in the melee of the front, but i bet most of the people at any given show wish they could see the band and hear them better without any pushing or squashing.

i know that there are many other folks who wish to see/hear the band better at shows without getting beaten up, so i wanted to throw a few possible remedies out there, (excluding LB playing on a stage, which they're not gonna do, and i don't want them to.) sometimes the crowd is relatively calm, which makes me happy. but at some shows when the crowd is wild i have managed to get a spot on brian g's side where the pushing is less intense, and i can see/hear the band MUCH better. (i am tall, so seeing the band is easier for me.) sometimes on brian g's side i even get a little bit of space to dance around, which is awesome- i love dancing to LB. at a few shows i have also found higher ground. this is generally hard to do because any vantage points will get staked out real quick, but at as220 i've gotten a spot on the stage next to the band, with a great view and great sound, and at mass art i got a spot on a tall ladder with similar advantages. at the columbus theater show there were seats to stand on, too.
i know that these are not groundbreaking ideas, but i wanted to share them anyway.

yes yes yes i have seen lighting bolt 8 times and my experience tells me that when they play at venues that serve alcohol the Lb crowds tend to be much more inconsiderate, rowdy and obnoxious whereas all the times ive seen them at all ages, no-alcohol venues (for instance the recent show in philly) its been much more friendly, high energy but positive energy experiences..so yeah..thats basicly it.. dont drink at Lightning bolt shows! you'll just ge tdhydrated and lose you judgment!
