It looks like most of you would like to have more writing time. We will therefore shift the sign-ups to January 14th.
The new schedule looks as follows:
Sign-ups open
For the exchange on Jan. 14, 2007 on 12 am CET and close on Feb. 11, 2007
For the ficathon on Jan. 14, 2007 on 12 am CET and close on Feb. 28, 2007
The assignments for the exchange will be sent out no later than Feb. 17, 2007
Deadline for both: May 7, 2007
Posting begins on May 17, 2007
CET is Central European Time: GMT + 1 hour
The ficathon has longer sign-ups, this gives stragglers some chance to participate, too.
Now that we have the schedule, let me explain how the fest is going to work.
There is going to be an anonymous exchange and a ficathon, both of which will run simultaneously. You can sign up for only one of them.
Exchange means: create a gift for someone and have someone create a gift for you.
Ficathon means: pick up to three prompts from the prompt list and create a fic/art based on your prompts. Fairly easy.
Should you submit your entry for either of them early (2 or more weeks before deadline), you can browse through the remaining prompts and create a second entry, should you have energy left to do so.
The sign-ups for both will go up on the same time in separate posts.
All fics and art for both exchange and ficathon must be emailed to me at riddlefest@gmail.com. To preserve anonymity only the mod can post in the community. I will make a posting schedule containing both exchange and ficathon works and post them, beginning on May 17th.
The posting time will depend on the number of participants and submitted entries, it will not be longer than 4 weeks. I'll try to post 2-4 entries every day. It all depends on the number of fic and art submitted.
The exchange participants must obviously stay anonymous until the reveal, the ficathon participants are encouraged to pimp and link to their work as much as they want to.
However, all fic and art remain exclusive to the community until the end of the fest and cannot be posted anywhere else on the internet.
And now, please read this part as it is very important for the success of both parts of the fest.
The more of you sign up for the exchange, the easier it will be for me to match you up with someone who likes to write what you like to read. If less than 15 people sign up for the exchange, it will NOT take place.
Should this happen, I will ask those who have already put their names in for the exchange to head over to the ficathon sign-ups and pick prompts there, should they wish to do so. We will all be terribly disappointed of course. Please people, if you are undecided, or don't really care in which part of the fest you participate - consider signing up for the exchange.
If you have any other questions, comment here or email me. A list of rules will be posted in the sign-up posts.
