X-Factor #229 Review/Summary

Dec 21, 2011 17:05

Man, what a crazy ride.

(Comixology Marvel App: Do it now, don't wait another day to get X-Factor being sexy.)

Madrox finds himself in the wedding suite of MURDER. Following the blood trail, he instead finds supposed-murderer Rahne acting like nothing is the matter. He tackles her to the ground, as the guests attempt to break up the fight and quickly realize something strange is going on.

Banshee never died.

Madrox and Layla were never branded.

Quicksilver is on good terms with everyone.

Shatterstar seems to have never changed, and calls Longshot "brother".

Rahne had a daughter, not a son. One she raised as best she could by taking her to Asgard. But little Vanora was an evil thing. Worst, the police seem to not need an excuse to kill mutants in this universe.

The police arrive, and are immediately attacked by Shatterstar. Logan and Rictor both note hating "that guy". In the resulting chaos, Madrox slips away, deciding that none of this is his business and intent on finding someone to help him get back home. But instead he finds Vanora, who reveals that Layla was behind the entire murder -- she begged, and then paid for them both to be killed. Vanora attempts to finish the deal, but is interrupted by the various dupes.

....who all manifest different powers in this reality.

Madrox once again runs for his life, only to be distracted by the Elder Tyrp.

Just in time for him to be run over by a drunken Val Cooper. He wakes up again, this time in a bombed-out wasteland beside a dead Madrox.

-------

Hooray, Lupacchino is back! And looking good as ever.

The twists and turns keep coming, with little time for us (or Madrox) to do more than struggle to keep up. Madrox seems to be playing a deadly game of Quantum Leap, hopping from one reality to another as Madrox Primes die.
