"They Blinded Me With SCIENCE......sorry GOP!"

Yesterday, we bore witness to a little bit of history.

A little washing machine sized space craft traveled for over 10 years and 300 million miles to reach a comet that is racing towards the sun at 11.5 miles per second (approx. 80,000 mph).  Once it reached its destination, the little guy broke off of its parent spacecraft and landed on the comet, marking the first time that mankind has ever achieved such a feat.

Now let's flashback to 1969, when the world bore witness to another history making event.....

The United States' Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon, on July 20,1969.  There have been six manned U.S. landings (between 1969 and 1972) and numerous unmanned landings, with no soft landings happening from 1976 until December 2013. To date, the United States is the only country to have successfully conducted manned missions to the Moon.

Now it seems that all this should be reason to celebrate and be proud of, because we are proving to ourselves that we can acheive great things if we put our minds to it.

Unfortunately, there are people who don't believe in SCIENCE.

Yes, those gosh darn Republicans have an issue with people who are smarter than they are.  They refuse to believe what scientists say because it would do major damage to their agenda:

Making people less educated to keep smart people from progressing the country.

They go around saying things like this....

This guy is on the House Science Committee.

Yeah really.

And to make matters worse, there is this guy.....

Jim Inhofe....the longtime Oklahoma senator is the most flamboyant critic of climate research, denouncing the concept of man-made global warming as a “hoax” and a “conspiracy.” Now he’s about to take charge of the Senate Science Committee that oversees environmental policy.

Yeah really.

How is this happening?  Why are these guys making it to these committees when they have NO IDEA what they are talking about?  Where are the REAL scientists in Congress?

Oh wait......we haven't elected any yet.

So I guess we might want to do something about that.  Maybe actually SHOWING UP to elections to vote some scientists into Washington might help.

How about this guy....

Yeah, i'd vote for him!
