Week 18, Book 9

Well, I am only behind by HALF (should I be comforted or terrified?), but this was a flesh-and-blood book, so yay.

When the Light Goes by Larry McMurtry, 195 completed May 3, 2007

The final (?) novel in the former The Last Picture Show - Texasville - Duane's Depressed trilogy. I am impressed at how Mr. McMurtry allows me to pick up on a series I finished reading 4 years ago and remember things as clearly as if I had just read them.

This book did not get a favorable review, but I enjoyed it. It was not as outrageous as some of his previous Thalia novels, but, well, Thalia is not the same as it was once. McMurtry did well in showing the effects of progress and time on a town and a individual life.

As with anything McMurtry, I enjoyed it. There is nothing that man has written that I have not enjoyed reading.
